The previous phase was... eh, lots to come but thanks a ton though!!

Definitely got some stuff cooking in the next following updates

Surprisingly Mercedes wagons are pretty gnarly all-around vehicles, just have to see some people push boundaries with them

Got Update #5 incoming! Thanks for the love and support it makes the investment well worth

      Update #5

Lets just pretend like this update comes within a relatively similar time frame as was provided in the last post

This was written about 6 months back. As of now, I'm almost a year behind so we've got some catching up to do

Long story short. Stuff happens in the most inopportune times, but doesn't mean it isn't doable! Basically taking four 4 week classes through intersession leaving me with no time for this upcoming project, which is reason for the time delay (writing this and putting it together). Lets try to put something together while multi-tasking cars and school? Going to need to super focus and probably should be studying now but instead I type this on a train whilst headed to go pick up an AMG that'll be donating its life to the BENZWGN so I'm a tad bit stoked on that... Just fantastic right, start tremendously tough classes and days in something sprouts and I finally have the ability to pull the trigger on a complete AMG power train/drive train swap. Future or Fast Wagon? Wasn't a tough one.

So please, continue reading further to get caught up, it shall get interesting - Promised!

Somehow always find myself stumbling across gems
A Sacrifice from the AMG Gods

As your typical broke college student with ambitions does, I wondered from studying for classes to scouring craigslist in my school library.

Upon doing so, I stumbled across the Wolf In Sheeps Clothing

But was I lacking sleep and visualizing? Could this actually be a real late 90's AMG Spaceship?

For those who are not quite familiar with the Mercedes scene...

They built W210 E55 AMG Sedans and they built S210 E55 AMG Wagons.

Mercedes deemed there was no market for the AMG Wagons in North america (bastards!!) and consequently, didn't ship S210 E55 AMG Wagons to North America.

Just because they didn't send them to America, doesn't mean you cant build one

So everything foregoing is my attempt to create an AMG monster out of this granny wagon.

For those unfamiliar with the power plant itself, it may not look like much...

But under the hood is a 5.4 Liter NA Mercedes V8 Engine molested by AMG at the factory hand built pumping out 349hp to the crank and 390tq new.

So now you might be able to see my excitement coming from a 3.2 liter V6 engine boasting 221hp and 232 tq

Immediately checked the date, to see if a hail marry lob was even justifyable - 2 DAYS AGO -

Stunned I frantically wrote out a very well thought out email, describing that basically "[I] know what the car's worth and if everything checks out have no issues paying asking price!"

The next morning - like a kid christmas morning - woke up to check my email, to of which was filled with a single email. Practically exploded with excitement, as an AMG powerplant was finally in the foreseeable future, but lots left to go. Remember thinking to myself, its not locked in and nothings solidified sit tight and ride the wave.

I wrote back and expressed who I was (20 year old interested in cars and repair, etc) and told him his car was going to a good home! In fact even sent this build thread in as concrete evidence to help sweeten the deal! Turns out David [the owner] was a forumn geek as well! Benzworld.org instead but still a similar platform.

David had so much trust and faith in me, he wouldn't even accept a non-refundable deposit from me

Last question for him, was whether or not the car would make it the drive from San Francisco to San Diego CA...

Asked if he'd trust the vehicle on a 500 mile drive and to of which he said he wouldn't hesitate. After hearing that, there was no hesitation on my end either - SOLD!!!

So had to start figuring out my ride situation... LUCKILY my buddy Kyle [mentioned in here earlier with the beautiful 210 E55 AMG] was already planning on going to San Francisco that weekend

So I managed to bum a ride with him. Just needed to get to him

Train ticket was booked that day

This guy Kyle is hysterical haha, starting to call him W210 god since this dude knows almost everything there is to know about this chassis.

Suffice to say, this guy had me covered for whatever would go wrong with the car on the trip back.

Keep in mind im still drenched in schooling so obviously squeezed in time where I could

(Love this photo because at the time I wasn't legal drinking age but didn't get my identification checked on the train muaha)

After a near 12 hours of travel throughout walking, bus transportation, hitch hiking with a buddy, and a train I had finally made it to San Francisco by 8:00 AM

Finally I made it out to David brimming with excitement. Kept questioning if this really was happening throughout the entirety of the trip - it felt so surreal in the midst!

What arose from a goof college student sending out a lucky email that struck David's heart strings ultimately allowing me to be able to turn this time into an experience rather venture

Not many worries in my head as I knew the car truly was a steal for the cost, except for one; making the 500 mile drive home.

Finally got to David and saw two of the many cars in his extensive collection

(The last W210 E55 AMG on orange wheels was actually my buddy Omar's. Good looks on the ride once again brother man!)

Here is finally the offering, the '99 E55 AMG in all her $1,200 glory

I shook David's hand, couldn't thank him enough for even giving me the opportunity, and off we went back to Kyle's parents house.

Speaking of Kyle, the man was putting in work on this Audi his uncle was gifting him. Was doing a full service/tune up down to timing belt in their driveway

While he was doing that, I inspected the car for functionality, pressures, and other maintanence items. Amongst doing so I snuck photos in

What does this next photo show?

      Gas like Krobath? yes.

A late 90's AMG rocket ship that has declined in condition so far that its now labeled a $1,200 mechanics special vehicle that happens to be fueling up for flight (as in a 500 mile drive). yes

Couldn't help but feel this deal wasn't through just quite yet.

Especially considering a breakdown far enough away from home, could justify a tow or repair bill costing a huge fraction of the vehicle price. I did deem it doable and safe in pre-inspections so whats one got to loose?

After making a sufficient amount of stops visiting friends along the way home south down the coast of California

I finally made it home. The Wagon got to finally meet the E55 AMG willing to sacrifice itself for the better good of society.

Already have the purists ready to rip me up to shreds for "sacrificing a rebuildable AMG".

Well, take a closer look at it

Not one of the finer sacrifices from the AMG gods, but it'll do quite nicely.

Being the broke college student I am; Whatevers left I'm not using is for the birds.

Spit shined the relic, took her down the street from my parents house and shot the part out photos

Which lead to some serious movement

Can almost call it theft! Instead call it
Group Buy; on the local cheap E55 AMG'S.
Living in southern California, we're privileged having so many vehicles on the streets and on the market (rust free even!)

So we took advantage, I grabbed the first one (my donor) and my buddy found his on craigslist.
Driver was drunk and went through a fence, sat for a couple years $850

and this is what his $850 E55 AMG looks today (6 months later)

his instagrams' @E55Rob for those trying to see more

Met up with a car friend that was local to the area!

He brought some goodies for my build while we were 500 miles from our area

thanks so much once again Raqui! (@yaboiraqui on instagram)

If you've got an eye, you'll be able to foreshadow through whats in this next photo

Let's get this show moving along... What we're really here for right?
AMG V8 Heart Swap Into the Benzwgn

When people write *Picture Heavy* it means nothing when up against this.

Unfortunately I've got 250 photos to drop, so I'll cut the chit-chat and let the photos talk the soon to be seen million words.

Starting it off late. Stripped the BENZWGN down to nothing. All of the original V6 Engine pieces were to be replace but had to be removed first

Out comes the 'ol faithful M112 V6

Well, before I show you the next sequence of photos, I'll let you see this next photo and foreshadow...

A WHEEL BROKE ON THE ENGINE HOIST!!!

I feared for my life boys!! It was like (what I presume) watching the titanic going down looked like lmao

Literally time stood slow as I watched the wheel break off and the 500lb Engine tower over and fall onto the floor

Woah what a visual to see let me tell you.

Of course clean up was a pain, but what hurt more was the low mileage refurbished motor dropping 4ft from the air... smh

      Car was just a shell!

      Now the fun begins

These next couple of photos show you the condition of the exterior of the motor

By far, the heaviest leak I've ever seen that went unattended for way too long

      DISGUSTING

this next collage show's the two objects about to battle it out...

On the left - PRESSURE WASHER /// On the right - THE LEAKING OUT V8

Compressed Air entering in on the battle

Fuel rail was resprayed as well, although not quite finished in this photo.

This is where I call myself out for being a baboon. Having the cost of this resto hit me (especially on a 20 year old's budget)

Costs were cut. Refurbing this alternator ended up being the wrong move as ultimately this process killed it.

Enjoy the before/after's on my expense though!

A little more day by day (or night by night since thats when the only free time that could be had was)

Now replacing the rear main seal, pulled off one flywheel bolt and noticed how much heat flex lengthened this bolt!!

Had a friend come by to check the process, what does he drive?

Cannot emphasize this combo enough, definitely sponsored and ensured the rebuild process!

Comment on next photo: F*CK stripped bolts

Off to machine shop for extracting

Said good riddance to the broken off stud inside my block

      In she goes!

Decided late I was to replace an Oil Filter Housing O-Ring now rather later

Some AMG Brake Booster Rebuild Action (previous owner plasti-dipped... dont ask me why)

If you peak in this next video you'll notice some plastic lines being ran, hope you're in on what its for already

Then my buddy Kyle made the trip 300 miles to help out pulling the rear V8 subframe off the AMG

Here's the bad part. He came over on the 1 day out of the 365 it happens to be raining like a storm in San Diego.

Of course, since I'm prepared for that one day... Our awning of choice? A canopy. With holes in it.

Unfortunately for our opponent we know how to have a good time. Unfortunately its with water *er* I mean beer :/

Also, the rockys were seriously cold that day...

It cant get worse! But no it actually can.

The car JUST so happened to be parked with the rear subframe hovering over a gutter filled with dirt.

      F A N T A S T I C

      BOSS LEVEL: DEFEATED

The next day, Level two was upon us. Yanking the expired subframe bushings

Just as their is weld porn -- theres also flame porn

Also, looking back this next photo is sketchy to say the least. Risked it all for the clout

Also, if you are familiar enough with the german's take on the radiator itself, you'll instantly cringe at this next photo.

Basically killed the radiator breaking off that plastic nipple

$350 later for a OEM Replacement... How Mercedes really start to become expensive

Also refurbed the Rear CV Joints/Half Axles. New Boots and grease to go with it

Met a friend in a class on campus, turns out to become an extremely close best friend. He as well had a hand on the build!

Clark you're a stud brotha! Thanks for the help once again

Of course he's in something sick! A mark 2 supra

Rear parking brake was a horrendous experience

Of course, a engine swap of this severity isnt just plug and play (and no, not giving you more of my money mercedes)

So a guru of the technical/coding aspect who came highly recommended was contacted to sort the bits

Next shot is of him opening the E55's DME to obtain the chip then virginize the S210's ECU and reprogram

-Hamid if you're reading, this swap couldn't have been done without you! Appreciate ya

FINALLY GOT THE CAR ON THE GROUND

Of course though, I've got ECU/TCU issues to go with it

Got the ECU/TCU Issues sorted and started with the AMG goodies, now that its AMG powered

Buckled the fender due to the Temporary Wheels #1 - The Monoblocks having tires too large on them

A buddy who was kind enough to lend me a set proffered his Alphards (Temporary Set #2) They fit quite nicely

      Thanks once again Omar! @nsty210

After about 3-4 miles around the neighborhood. Bring her back in to check for leaks/loose ends

Fast forward a week of short driving (breaking in) the BENZWGN

Hit a dip being so low -> pushes the radiator support back and torwards the motor -> Engine Fan Eats Brand New $350 Radiator

As much as I normally take responsibility, C'mon Mercedes, the metal for the support is weaker than my ex gf's communication skills

Well, In my fit of anger, I put together this short film for you.

Don't do that at home kids, stubbed my toe a good one performing that short for you

Incoming third set of temp wheels also in advance shitty fitment along with shitty height is shitty

Tires were shot on that temporary set so they weren't it. Incoming fourth set of temporary wheels/tires

Wondering what happened to the LM's? Still got 'em and yes they will make a comeback, better/cleaner/stronger than ever

I literally mean stronger... The 5 bends are getting removed

She's officially daily'able! Proper sleeper wagon with an AMG 5.4 NA V8 under the hood pushing 349hp 390tq

We're no where near close to catching up, in honesty this is quite the beginning of what turns epic.
Stay tuned! Next update will actually have some proper stanceworks material involved

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed!

Great journey, happy you made it happen!
Was wondering why you had to clean the rear subframe with a hose when it was pouring outside though
Friends really make these things happen in our line of activities. Shout out to yours!

Awesome, was wondering where did this thing go

I eed to know how do you get such dirty/greasy/crusty parts that clean, when I power-wash stuff like that I end up being greasy and the parts still come out nowhere near clean

Always a fun read. So good to see the wagon continue to get better and better thanks to the many sedan lives sacrificed in the process.

Thanks brotha man! The hose was no simple hose though Paired it with a whopping 3.5hp Honda pressure washer (unfortunately didn't have VTEC but still kicked arse)

But couldn't agree more! What kind of fun is fun you cant have amongst the presence of good people right? Appreciate ya!

Hey, still around! Just busy these days as every one is right?

But lots of dish soap oddly enough! Its an amazing degreaser - rub it in, let it sit, and with the pressure washer it comes right off. Satisfies the OCD so I'm fine with it!

Thanks man, glad you enjoy it! I guess technically both sedan and wagon lives hysterically. Took a couple shitty cars to build one decent one

Although the next update truly should satisfy everyone legitimately, still haven't gotten to the good part! Just need to lock myself in a room and type away...

The signature gives a tad bit of it away too :/

Saying the same about your M build! (mostly waiting to see those new wheels mounted )

Finally finished a huge project for work that has been a burden on me for the past couple months, classes for next semester picked out, college apps sent out for my last two years of schooling, and some "sick days" to use up to put together a damn update and we'll be rocking!

So stoked to put this next one together too for you guys! Will make it a worthy one
