  • The e36 Revival.

ok so this is slightly frustrating all of my old photos in my past thread got corrupt by photo bucket and wouldn't show anything of my photos. pissed.

So, i have had this car for a little while now.

it started off back in 2012, i always had nicer cars and a very good friend of mine, if not one of my closest friends came up to me and said "my parents are in need of getting rid of there car tonight, there new one comes tomorrow and they have no room for two cars".

At the time my mum was in need of a new car as a week prior her car went bang, she had an e36 compact of which she loved.

so i called my dad and said i could get a new car for mum this evening do you want me to make the executive decision. in his response was yes.

Here in the UK you can only get 300GBP out of a cash point per day, after viewing the car i offered them 300 of which they wasn't to happy but they didn't have any other choice or the car was going to the junk yard.

so, the car in question was an e36 coupe black 316, non sunroof with low miles, this was garage kept all its life and super clean!!

So, my mum had this car up until 2015, in this time she tried to keep as much care of it as she could but i always had other projects and i never kept up with the maintenance.

so in 2015 i had the car given to me, the engine wasn't in the best of orders, all the suspension was dead and blown. Both the rear springs had snapped in 3 or 4 places. but the body was still super clean, and lets face it. the suspension and engine was never going to stay standard!!

So, the car has been off the road for a long time and it was just a case of collecting parts, life kept getting in the way and the car had to take the back step.

genuine e36 m coupe bumpers, side skirts (not shown), m side strips, all red rears and tinted side repeaters. I ended up not using the tails or side repeaters as i wasn't a massive fan when i had them on. Plus those who know and follow me will remember i actually had an e36 coupe before, bagged on BBS RFs and these lights were on my old coupe and i wanted to do something slightly different this time.

The money shot of everything, and the equips but we will get onto that in another chapter

Once all the suspension was mounted to the car i trial fitted the front wheels to the car to see if any work was needed.

I am not a massive fan of the wheels in white, so i was trying to decide on the colour and i done just a quick mask up and gave them a coat of silver. (this is not the finished job, they will get refinished by a pro)

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

and the trial fit, i think they look great especially with the 330 brakes behind.

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

The fronts are 8, i have bought slightly bigger lips to make these 8.5 front.

so, as you can see from above i have the front callipers fitted, this is how we got there.

First of all, i painted them red.

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

but as soon as i fitted them i quickly made up my mind i didn't like them at all.

So i was trying to work out what colour to go and i just decided to go with a subtle black and i am so glad i did!!

Splitting the wheels for a later refurb.

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

So, the rear wheels were ET(stupid). so i had the wheels plugged up and we shaved 12mm off the back!! making them a much friendlier fitment, this is before...

Untitled by ben walsh, on Flickr

seeing as the body is so clean and i have done the over fender thing i wanted to keep this as stock body as i can and only with subtle camber etc.

You can see pictures of the new rear fitment later on.

Here in the UK we got the Bosch glass headlights.

these had sections that wasn't as clean as i would like but i gave them a lick of paint.
