  • 24-K gold plating. Cost and value?

    Hi,

How much does 24-K gold plating usually cost? How much would you say it increases the value of the rims?

    Thanks,
    Scott

not sure about the monetary value of doing this, but from past experience, it is very expensive (200 a face at least) and its not as strong as say gold anodizing. I have a few things done in both, and while the 23k gold looks better, the anodizing is definitely a harder surface

It always increases in price, I know when I had my wheels done, Gold went up that week in price. He told me if I had already paid it would have cost me another couple hundred.

Thanks! Was just interested as I bought a set of wheels with 24-k plating. Any idea on the weight/amount of gold on them? Just as a fun fact.

They're 4x114,3 so going on the Celica. I might get Rotiform to make up a deeper outer shell/lipp, aswell as welding 1" on the barrels, to get the dimmensjons I want.

Gold value has gone up, Gold Dipping right now is aroudn $600 a face thats why i didnt get mine dipped in 24k LOL, instead i went cheap and did a gold transparent powder coat.

not bad for powder coat right

Always wanted to get 24k plating on something, seems like a horrible time now with gold up above 1.7k when last year was way way lower.

hmmm very tempted to ask rotiform to gold dip or anodize me center caps while my wheels are already there.

                            That T.L. is bawse!

sort of off topic, but does the break dust really destroy the gold plating? I'm sure it isnt good for it, but I wasnt sure how quickly it ruined them
