  • Vanilla Build

This is my Miata and we call her Vanilla. It's 1990

Washed her up from the underside to the body to begin my build throughout the winter season and it was surprisingly really clean.

Time to start stripping her down

Out! It was my first time removing an engine with a hoist and banged a couple of things on the way out but nothing major.
Next I stripped the interior to remove Cruise Control, AC, and to do a wire tuck along with a clean up.

No plans on swapping a motor just yet. Throwing all the loot on suspension, wheels, exterior and interior for now.

Engine swap maybe later down the line

I would look into going FI on that motor since it only has 36,000 miles just because it will make the car much much more fun to drive (driven/owned na/fi miatas before) and it is quite cheap.

Looks like a clean project to start with, can't wait to see results.

Alright so I stripped the interior some more and ran into some rust issues..... I Fucking **** rust! I expected this though.

Broke all 3 nuts holding onto the lower part of this piece. So I'm currently in the market for this and the bracket.

Moving on, I decided to clean up the interior and sand out the surface rust, than coating it with primer then paint.

Now, from a distance, it seems like a really clean interior but take a closer look and you'll find surface rust here and there.

                  I'll be doing this... (Sample)

After the interior is all cleaned up, I'll move up towards the engine bay for some more clean up.

you wouldn't be saying that in Texas. This past summer we saw an average of 95-100 degrees within june-august! I love driving with the windows down, but there are sometimes you're gonna have to say "fuck that" lol.

The build looks good so far op!

God this makes me want an NA, what are your plans? There's a dude selling a white NA shell with a complete 1.8 swap out of the car for $500 and it's sooo tempting! Granted it probably wont actually happen because I'm a 16 year old and the logistics just aren't there. But good luck with the build!
