  • OZ / ACS Type 1 "Rebuild" Question (changing lips)

Quick question for the wheel experts out there:

I am changing the outer lips on a set of OZ/ACS Type 1, 3-piece wheels. The faces are in great condition and had been recently powder coated by the prior owner. However, the inner barrels have a few bends that need to be repaired. I intend to have the barrels repaired and then remove the existing lips to install the new wider lips that I purchased. From what I can see, these are reverse (bottom) mount wheels and there is no joint between the face and wheel through which air could leak. As a result, is there any reason that I would need to remove the wheel faces?
