Long story short, my uncle loves E9s and decided to buy a couple of them. Obviously they need some work, so of course my friend and I are the ones in charge of restoring and/or resto-modding these two. He has a third one that's maroon on beige, I'm sure I'll have it at some point. For now, we're focused on these two. I'll probably make a separate build thread for both once enough progress has been made, but for now I'm just trying to find a place to dump all these pictures for the time being.
The latest E9 to show up was this 1972 3.0CSI, it's manual but hasn't run for years, showed up with no key, etc. Engine needs to come out, floors need to be welded, and it's been in a front end collision that needs to be straightened out. All the old gas and coolant in the car has obviously become a problem for us. Interior needed some work before it was taken apart by the PO. My friend got it running on ether shortly after it was dropped off, so we knew it was at least 'borderline okay.' More on that later...
Next, we have the first E9 to show up, which we've had the most time to work with so far. It's a 1972 3.0CS that was imported from Belgium not too long ago, it's automatic, is in really good shape, and only has 87,000 km or so. It also has a sunroof, the CSI does not. Big plans for this one. My friend already rebuilt the calipers, replaced the booster, all 6 lines (these cars have 2 front brake lines per side,) and fiddled with the carbs enough to get it running for now. The valve stem seals are shot, so she smokes a bit. It's a really nice car, but the motor has to come out on this one, also, if we want to make it nice.
These 16" Alpinas are waiting to go on the car, among other things..
