  • How to pull off 17s on an E39.

    So,

a while ago, I was building an E39 Touring... I had gotten as far as building a set of slightly mental wheels and dropping the car on a set of coils, but then I discovered some heavy rust underneath the car which made me decide to abandon the project and part it out.

However, the wheels were finished and in perfect sizes for an E39 to stand out from the crowd. My friend and wrenching buddy Andy offered to buy them for his own E39 530i Touring.

They are RH ZW1 measuring 10x17 ET-10 up front and 11.25x17 ET-1 in the rear, wrapped in 215/45 and 245/40 rubber.

I realize the look is not everyone's cup of tea, but we love it and we have in fact received quite a few positive reactions to the end result.

You can find more details and more and bigger pictures here: http://www.tiefundbreit.com/blog/201...s-e39-touring/

I think the wheels match the car pretty well. Although understandable if it's a daily at that ride height, I'd like to see it lower.

The front looks good, but the rear could come down a little to pull off that size(not much, but just to tuck some more tyre). I like the colour combo of the car and the wheels, it's unsual, but works.

Yeah, rear down a cm and a half and it'd be perfection

at least the wheels got a new good home

but rich already showed us e39 can pull off 17's (granted, they not as mental as your wheels)

                    Glad you guys like it!

I guess your suggestions to see it lower are mainly about the rear arch on most of the pics, right? Take a look at the pics showing the passenger side - the rear sits uneven, the driver's side is a bit higher than it should be as we messed up a bit when setting up the rear SLS, heh.

                      Looking good, love that color.

I was originally +1-ing all the lower in the rear comments but saw your last post. Getting both sides of the rear to the passenger-side height would make this even better.
