  • 4x100 stackable spacers, What's out there?

I have extended ARP studs I'll be swapping in, I'm currently using Ichiba bolt on spacers, and I've been looking for a spacer kit similar to the powered by max kit. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck finding anything.

I don't need the spacer with studs on it since my ARP studs will be much longer, I really just need a kit of spacers I can stack since I'll be running different wheels and offsets at the track (drifting).

Just wondering if anyone has some info where I could find something similar to the PBM spacer kit. Like I said, I really just need the stacks but if the bolt on one is included that's fine too.

    Thanks

Although I don't agree with spacers at all, to each their own. Not sure this is helps in any way, but I did a search for "4x100 wheel spacers" but I added "Gorilla" because I knew Gorilla has wheel lugs and spacers.
First site: summitracing.com They have a whole list of spacers that you might get away with being able to stack them.. unless they have to be fastened down to the main wheel spacer.
But if your adventurous.. locate a mill shop and have them mill you a few shims

Stacking spacers sounds relatively unsafe.. why not just buy the right size?

Never had any issues with my current spacers, and I beat the snot out of the car at the track. Worrying about spacers is a bit over blown in my opinion, especially if using a spacer from a reputable brand.

        Thanks for the info tho.

Sets like the PBM are what many people use on drift cars. Too many sets of wheels with varying widths and offsets to carry so many sets of spacers, that in your opinion "fit properly".

Anyways, I was just asking if anyone knew of any spacers like PBM in 4x100, I never asked for opinions regarding spacer safety.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to come across as a dick.. but I was merely pointing out my personal preference and summitracing's site. Often it just means using the correct words or terms when searching for items. GL with your search.

Parts Shop MAX sells the slip-on parts of that spacer setup separately from the bolt-on piece: link. They don't show 4x100 on that page, but I'd bet if you were to get in touch with them they could cut a set to your specs.

EDIT: Looks like they are, or at least were, willing to do custom-cut versions of their stackable spacers, including 4x100, though there might be a wait: http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=320701

I sent that guy a pm, if I don't get a response I'll give them a call. Thanks.

Also, just out of curiosity, why?

Just to clarify.. I don't agree with the thin shim type spacer. which reminds me of a very large washer. The "bolt ons" are slight better and more durable.. but still, I've seen horror stories of inferior installations with wheels flying off or simply breaking.
I think the point of pushing out the wheel is to find the correct backspacing with offset then one wouldn't need spacers. At least in my eyes.

What, specifically, do you see as the fundamental difference in safety between, say, an ET35 wheel attached to a hub with a 15mm slip-on spacer with the correct hub bore and hub-centering boss versus an ET20 wheel otherwise of the same specifications?

The torque applied to a product that doesn't need to meet the safety protocalls that wheels do is concerning IMO.. Not that they're generally unsafe, but there's a higher chance of something going wrong there. Plus more strain on bearings and such.

Are you suggesting that the torque applied by the hub against the spacer or the spacer against the wheel is enough to cause tensile deformation and failure of solid 6061 aluminum alloy?

Given my example above, a ET35 wheel with a 15mm spacer versus an ET20 wheel of otherwise identical specifications, what additional strain would be placed on the bearings?

Can of Worms and this has been beaten into the ground so many times already.. It is what it is, personal preference nothing more. I've seen and heard more negative about spacers that I have positive. But I do agree on the adding the 15mm shim to correct the ET35 offset.

C'mon, that's pretty lame. If you're going to make an assertion or give advice, the very least you can do is share your reasoning behind it. Otherwise all we're doing here is repeating hearsay, which isn't very useful.

Actually, I did offer a pleasurable suggestion. I informed the Oper as to refine & redefine his search criteria as to include "Gorilla" o "4x100 wheel spacers" and as for any reasoning behind if or why I dislike spacers is my own concern.
