  • Volvo 745t wagon & vs-xx

Hola. Fairly new to the site. This is my 1991 volvo 740 wagon. Other than the obvious wheel & tire upgrades, there is an HX35 turbo attached to a stainless steel header. Header is setup to take advantage the the twin scroll HX35. There are also other various goodies under the hood.

So a few months ago I bent up my rear wheel lip pretty bad while driving in the rain. The previous wheel specs were 18x9 et 34 & 18x10 et34 5x108. So I had to run some spacers to make them fit, 32mm up front and 25mm in the rear. Since I had to buy new lips anyway, I decided to rebuild all the wheels to proper specs, avoiding the need for spacers.

So the front wheels went from 2in lips to 3.5in. The rears went from 2.5in to 4in. In reality the rears would have been better off with 3.5in lips, but I wanted a staggered look. The rear fenders required some decent beating with a drilling hammer. Eventually I'll have my body shop do a miniesque "widebody" on the rear fenders. I also changed the color of the centers to a green color. I really wanted more of a pastel green, but the body shop guy convinced me to go with a metallic like green, which came out nice. Tires are 225/40 & 255/35. Car sits on adjustable coilovers up front and adjustable spring perches on the rear.

Enjoy the crappy cell phone pics, along with the horrible backdrop.

You can somewhat see in this pic how much the rears stick out now. The 3.5" lips would have tucked in a little better. If only I could dial in some negative camber in the rear (rear is solid axle). The future body work on the rear fenders should help out some.

    Disassembly

Another good pic from during the assembly process.

Sick wagon sir. Believe I would have stuck with the gold though.

Believe me, a lot have already mentioned that they liked the gold better, lol. I just wanted something different, at least for a while. I really wanted it more of a pastel green color, maybe even in a satin finish. Perhaps next time around.

The rear tires are already 255/35. I guess a 255/30 would be the only smaller option. That or drop down to like a 235/35. That is one area where I might diverge a little from most on this site though, I kind of like to fit as wide a tire as possible

I love it! As mentioned afore, the gold looked better (classier) but the green still looks pretty good nonetheless.

I dig it.. The rear could come down a little bit more though. The green is different but good.

THough I like the gold better, I think a deeper or richer green might have been perfect. Wither way I like the wheels with bigger lips on that large body. Looking good. Volvo wagons are prime stance candidates in my opinion. Wish I could get my wife to let me stance her 2014 S60T.. but oh well.

                    progress IS a slow process

That'd be right thing to do. Looks much better with golden wheels.

Cheap ain't badass, badass ain't cheap.

Haha! Like I said before, most everyone has told me that. I'll probably sell them before i take them apart again to repaint. Even then I probably still wouldn't go back to gold. My other car already has a set of gold SE37k's, so need to break up the monotony a bit. I do appreciate the input though, thanks!
