  • Anodizing OZ Futura's

    Hello There,

i'm currently building a set Oz Futura for my Subaru Wrx (gc8) and i'm planning to anodize the wheels. I'm thinking about a bronze or matte gold anodized finish. I''ve never seen this on futura's. do you have any examples? or what about the durability of the anodizing?

Anodizing requires a very very clean and even surface for it to look good. It is generally more durable than paint or powder, although it can fade due to UV rays. Usually the faces need to be stripped, sanded, and shot with a very fine media to get a nice matte look when anodized, although you can anodize over polished too. I haven't seen anyone anodize a set of wheels that were polished though, maybe its not as durable.

Thnx! i have glassblasted my centers/lips/caps with the finest media available so i have good start:

but you say this will work on my wheels? i'm curious because you don't see anodizing of wheels that much.

Yeah It will work, just have to find a shop to do them. Lower grade aluminum can actually turn black from anodizing, but since those are forged, they should come out nice.
