  • My 2001 Mercedes W210 Station Wagon on OZ Mito

The last shots were pretty bad since I took them with a camerphone, these came out a bit better.

A little background, I used to have a smoke silver 00 W210 wagon, but I ***** the color and the fact that it was 4Matic, which eradicated any possiblity of lowering it. So I searched for months all over the US and finally find this car in Texas, bought it and drove it back to SoCal. Its an 01 Tectite Gray (special ordered E55 color) with litterally every single option ever available for a W210 from orthopedic air conditioned seats, satnav, xenon, you name it. Plus it was in immaculate condition.

Car arrive in Los Angeles October 6th and I have already put 4 different sets of wheels on it, from Carlsson 1/5 to 1/6 to 1/12, but I think the OZ's really fit the car the best. The wheels are 18x8.5 et 20 front and 18x10 et 19 rear with 225/40 and 255/35 Dunlop SP9000 (the old school stretch tire). Car is lowered on H&R Cup Kit meant for an E55 sedan, since there is very little suspension options available for wagons, I know its not StanceWorks low as of yet, I'm still in the process of lowering the front with thinner spring pads, and the rear has "self-leveling" suspension which kind of has a mind of its own since it raise the car whenever it feels load in the back, so if I drive up a steap hill it will jack the rear end up for no reason. I'll work on that too tho..

I'm planing to keep the exterior stock, no bodykits, just lower, with the exception of that euro plate bracket and some euro molding (gets rid of amber side marker) I got from europe for the last car, which were on last week but had to take it back to the paint shop since they ghetto prepped it and the paint was starting to bubble.

Anyways, stance will get worked on within the next week or so. For now here are the pics:

    Suggestions and criticism welcome.

Looks pretty cool. I'd lower it a couple of inches more and lose the rear badge and the cellphone-stand though. Maybe even tint the windows.

It would profit from some more low and some window tint, but I think it looks really good!

I'm still on the fence on tint, tint is sooo 90s, especial tinted tailight but especially tinted headlight I would be down for the blue UV tint/dye that comes on on the sport package W203, but I haven't found a manufacturer that makes film that looks like the real thing, they all just end up looking like regular black tint with some blue hues in it. 3M Crystaline is the closest I found but even that is more dark and less blue then I'm looking for.

I'm pretty much out of mod ideas at this point tho the last couple of days been looking at wrecked 00-02 E55 for around 3-4k for a motor and tranny swap. Then I'd pull the badge off, for now I'm not ashamed to flaunt that I got the bitch motor.

The front OZ's are, what them Japanese call "high disk", where the back mounting pad is HUGE to allow for caliper clearance, tho most German cars accept very low disk, I now have like 3 inches clearance between the spoke and the caliper, so if I kept these OZ's I can pretty much run any front brake kit without clearance issues. For now its the silver C32 4-pots I'm searching for, just for show tho, cheap and looks decent, not really better braking. Only downside is the front lip on the OZ is minimal, and since these are the 2-piece versions, I can't build the front into a 9"

I love wagons, and this is certainly no exception. The wheels selection is on point! Buuut it could definitely go down another, what, 2 inches probably? It would be sick to see this aired out.

clean wagon man. im not too familiar with the benz world, whats the 4matic and why would that keep you from lowering it?

anyway, a few inches lower and youre wagon's the shizz

4matic is the all wheel drive version. 4Matics are different as they us a tradition style coil over shock/spring in front, instead of the usual benz's separate spring and shock design used on the RWD cars. Since most 4matic e-class's were wagons and since most wagon owners do not care to lower their cars, no one ever made a suspensions option for it. The only way of lowering the 4matic was to cut the stock springs and use Bilstein HD shocks, not even the Bilstein Sports are available for the 4matics. Also to remove the spring on a 4matic, essentially every suspension component along with drive shaft and steering knuckle has to be removed, its a HUGE job for such a ghetto lowering meathod.

So as you can see it was a lot easier just to sell the old car and buy a new one then to have to reinvent the wheel, err I mean suspension

You should have looked into the KW "coilovers," which is a nice sport shock with adjustable perches. At least you could change the height when you felt like it, looks good though. Perfect wheel setup.

for a mercedes KW coilovers are really not worth the $1200 premium over a cupkit since even the KW is not a true coilover design. It still have a separate spring and shock, it just has a perch adjuster at the bottom of the spring, and since the spring has to be removed to adjust the perch anyways, it is essentially the same thing as replacing the different thickness spring pads that mercedes offerer. The thickest spring pad is 23mm and the thinnest is 5mm, the lowering difference is about 1.5" going from the thickest to the thinnest. I currently have the medium thickness, #3 which is 14mm I think, installed so replacing that with a #1 or 5mm spring pad will lower the car an additional 3/4" which s way more then plenty to tuck the front tire. Same goes for the rear, but for the rear I have a height adjustable hydraulic shock, same concept at lowrider hydraulics, where I can raise and lower the rear by pumping it full of hydraulic fluid with the flip of a lever underneath the car. The rear spring supports the majority of the weight in the back, the hydraulic shock fine tunes the ride height in the back.

what i think it needs to be perfect....be on air and wider lips.

                            Good start for sure though.

unfortunately these are the 2-piece Mito's so lip swap is not possible unless I convert them to 3-piece. Also since these are the BBK friendly versions with the large back pad the max I would be able to add in front is 0.5" making them 18x9 et7, anything beyond that would need fender work which might look goofy on this type of car
