So me and Russell have decided to have a race. Russell is currently 160, I'm currently 170. Russell wants to be at 180 by the first of the year, setting my goal at 190 by the 1st of the year.

So we start. If you're interested just post your current weight with pics and measurements.

I figure we'll update this with pics and measurements along the way.

Heres my entry pics, will get measurements ASAP.

My chest is pretty weak looking. I do incline flat and decline, flat db flys and superset it with the peckdeck bs. and then incline flys.

Fuck, I've got some work to do.

I wanna get my forearms bigger, well I wanna get my everything bigger. Hopefully these 20 pounds will work some magic

Russell_G
08-26-2009, 03:34 AM
Arnold used to say you need 10pounds for an inch on your bi's.

I don't do forearms much as anymore but will be getting to it now.

Those pics i think i look TINY so its good motivation to get back.

at 170 and BTW my gf has bigger bi's then most of my friends lol Shes jacked and i love it. Shes more in to running then lifting but for a girl she can seated over the leg curl high rep 25lb db's...and this may fire you up a bit Sean...she put up 4 reps of 135 flat bench. She flipped when i pulled it off the bench and curled it ;)

Good thing! Im glad you are thinking too. Most guys get so wrapped up in lifting they hurt something and are flat out done. Its important to be safe and smart about it so you can do it long term.

I started working out 3,5 years ago.

Was 198lbs when I started, now at 243lbs (@ 6'3'' height).

Done mostly building mass and not definition. I've gotten a little dryer, but I want to bulk up much more before I'm really gonna focus on definition.

So I don't look very muscular if you see me in the flesh.

fools are beefed up.

i just bought a whole new batch of supps today.

methyl 1d
T-911 stacked
NaN0 vapor pre workout
whey pro gainer complex.

wouldve went with tren extreme to stack with t-911 for PCT but i cant find it anywhere anymore or its too expensive when i do find it.

ill post up measurements and everything later. depending on when this stuff gets to me!

SeanDub

I'm in the process of kickin on my supplements. Stickin to just protein.

BreakMyWallet

really? ive heard good and bad. i went to buy it yesterday and it was way too expensive at GNC. its only 29 online.

i think i might get this different shit but the named slipped my mind. its a great preworkout

BreakMyWallet
09-26-2009, 11:32 AM
yo btw sean. check out Wheycheap.com

they have a new deal everyday for stupid cheap prices. yesterday they had a 5lb tub of whey 100% for $20

they always have good supps come up as well as protein

SeanDub
09-26-2009, 12:45 PM
NaNO vapor is cool for the first couple weeks, maybe even a month. Then it doesn't do shit, and I kept using it for months because I was afraid if I stopped my workouts would suck. Then I sacked up and stopped and haven't noticed a difference in the gym.

BreakMyWallet

okay. finally starting this up!

Starting size: 194lb 5'11

The Goal: well, i already put on a good amount of mass on my last cycle, which was my goal. This time im trying to lean down while getting stronger. dont really want to get too much bigger because it will effect me playing baseball. So ill be doing more "explosion" exercises as well as cardio everyday.

Yea i was back in the gym the following week.

We were at the hospital and the nurse told me, "take it easy on the gym for a while"

then courtney said, "see you have to stay out of the gym!"

Followed by me, "Nope, she said take it easy, I'll just lift a little lighter"

haha, so as soon as I could get out of bed, I went to the gym.

I;ve always been in the gym, since I was 14 yrs old, but for a while I fell off my game. (getting married, back issues, and going on 3 cruizes in 2 yrs). So, I have been doing what you guys have been doing also, justunkowing of this thread. :)

My wife and I decided to get back in shape together. Sh has lost over 15 lbs and I am back down, from 197 lbs (my heaviest) to 182 lbs (today)

No super current pics of me, but I have gotten a little better in the past couple weeks. Anyway......

before: (195lbs on a cruize, eating a shit load every day for seven days. I gained 12 lbs onthis cruize alone!)

http://i37.tinypic.com/244cwi9.jpg

Now: (One a couple weeks before 512 project and one at 512 project. Big change in those 2-3 weeks)

I am getting in on this now too. As of right now: 5'10" 196 lbs. I mainly want to cut down, get in good condition. Looking fitter will be nice, but I am not out to be huge like sean and russell(both of you are lookin good though).

Weight goal: No specific weight goal, but being 175-180 would be pretty awesome while retaining the strength I currently have.

Plan: Diet/eat smart. LOTS of cardio. Running, swimming, biking, etc. Continue to go to the gym and possibly work on cutting/keeping the strength that I have. I dont know much about supplements, but I do plan on taking whey protein, dont know what else though.

Eventual/1 year plan goal: Be in good enough shape/condition to do a triathlon and finish with a good time. For the event I plan o doing, I would LOVE to see 1 hour 30 minutes, but its at an altitude so we will see.

Pics:I will update with pics later this evening.

BreakMyWallet: Impressive results for just one year of having at it! What did you do in terms of cardio/diet to cut down like that? I have a feeling we had/have similar wants/goals for fitness. Any tips?

well my goal was to get bigger actually. im at 192 now and want to get to 200lb ideally (scouts look at that kind of thing)

as far as what i did, i had one of the best weight training coaches in the country dude. LOL. dude is amazing, and gets offers all of the time from the MLB, NFL, but suprisingly he stays at my school (college of the canyons) because its more steady. he has like 3 best selling books and his own section in mens health magazine. check him out http://www.coachdos.com/

we just do a lot of high intensity training. ive learned so much from that dude its crazy.

I take MSM for my joints. As for supps, overrated. Just creatine for me now.

yeah man. supps are def overrated. i liked methyl 1-d. it cut me down a lot.

i only take creatine, jack3d, and protein right now.

... WTB: HGH though. haha

Petis
08-05-2010, 08:28 PM
^ yeah, the only reason I would want to take supps is to gain muscle mass in my chest. No other reason though.

I can cut down easily. I did the diet my wife is doing ( eating every two hours, only small lowfat snacks, and not eating past 7p) and I lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. Crazy! I knocked that off pretty fast and put on some more muscle mass. Kept the fat off though.

The lowest body fat percentage I have ever achieved was 6.0%, (at 170 lbs) during college. Just dieting, working out,and running. I was also benching 345lbs at that time.

Jersh
08-06-2010, 01:19 AM
i only take creatine, jack3d, and protein right now.

Jack3d is the shit, if you like that i'd also recommend White Flood. Both do the same thing for you but White Flood has more Beta Alanine in it, makes you tingle ALOT.

Anyway, i recently started lifting this year seriously. I took a strength and conditioning class at my high school last year and that got me started. I went into high school (10th grade where i went) weighing 135 pounds and i graduated this year and i'm currently at 170 pounds with a little less than 7% body fat, and i'm 5'11".
I usually played basketball every winter, and by play i mean warm the bench. But my i got cut this year and decided to hit the weight room. I didn't take any supplements when i lifted this winter except for Muscle Milk after my work out. In about 3-4 months i put on around 10-12 pounds. Since then I put on another 8-10, and I'm hoping to weigh atleast 185 by the end of my freshman year of college. I'll try to find some pics to actually show how much weight i put on.

Legs are starting to come back after my 3 month recovery from the guy i was lifting with dropping a 120lb DB on my knee cap. It has a weird chip on the outside of it now.

When i get back on the 6th im changing everything up. Now that the wheels are healed im hitting them twice as hard. Same with chest and back. My arms are getting too big for my body i feel so its time to hit my problem areas hard. Shoulders were hit really weak for the last year cause i was flat out scared of them after having one pop out of socket on me at the gym when i started...now i have found some stuff i can do to improve on them thats really paid off in the last 8 months so im going to hit that harder.

My post HI target list
Calfs- i want 1-2 inches on my bi's
Quads and hams
Lower back
Traps
Lats- need to grow lower
Pecks- flat bench is pretty high for my weight i feel but incline needs to come up and top of my pecks need to grow...I feel like i have tits. My gf held up a bra when we were shopping cause she said mine are bigger then hers and i had no issues filling a 34b...yep they are tittys.
Shins- legs look funny when its all calf..started hitting them and my calfs look smaller now but my legs are over all bigger.

PS my brother sent this to me today...thought it was kinda funny. It reminds me of a guy i lift with...Isnt even tan anymore hes red and straight up jacked....i cal him the lobster.

never head of it, but i'm not one to speak cuz pretty much nobody has ever heard of my school. i go to a small liberal arts college in southeastern PA, Ursinus College.

i'm not much of a pitcher either, i'm a catcher. i don't really look like one since i'm only 5' 11" with no body fat on me.

and i decided to do a few weeks of long distance running and then switched it up to sprints.

Anyways, here's what I have been doing since the middle of October of this year. I used to play hockey and did that for about 6 years before I became a lazy ass and haven't been working out/gym since I quit when I was 18. I'm 23 now.

I'm 5'6".

I started at 130-135 lbs depending on the day. I was looking to slim down and tone up.

Started with:
3-4x a week slight jog for ~2 miles on a treadmill
- Bench @ 115 3x8
- Bicep curl 15 3x8
- Crunches 2x25

I took a couple of weeks off in between when I started and now, but stats of this week:

126-128 lbs depending on the day

I'm trying to get my body used to running and working out, so I haven't been doing much other than easier type stuff.

- Run 3-4 times a week at least 2.5 miles each time outside.

3x a week I:
- Bench @ 135lbs 3x8
- Bicep curls @ 25lb dumbell 3x8
- Overhead press @ 15lb dumbell 3x8
- Shoulder shrugs @ 20lb dumbell 3x8
- Bicycle crunch 2x25

I can definitely see an improvement. My stomach area has slimmed down and my upper body has more definition. After the new year, I think I'm going to hit more target areas in my work out.

Now I weigh like... 150-160 and haven't benched or really gotten in a gym in a while.
I'm going to get back into it. Try to bulk myself up now that my running "career" is over.

Meh, I don't find it to be that great. I was mid pack for the most part. 4th and 5th here and there.
The strength training was what got me to 4:40. The previous season I tore my hamstring during XC and then in February broke my leg sledding into a brick lamp post. And I wouldn't have been anywhere near 4:40 if I hadn't been pushed in strength training.

Either long or short would work.
I like sprint work more, just because I like interval workouts more than 10-14 mile runs.
But distance running would burn a lot of calories, whereas sprints are more for muscular strength and speed.
I dunno... I can't really decide hahaha. For a runner, I'm terrible with advice about running.

I'm getting used to running 2.5-3 miles each session, so I may stick with that. I can see a difference already so it seems to be working. I'll up the mileage after I get completely used to it.

I'd say you should do a combination of distance and sprint work, as well as core work.
Our track schedule was:
Monday: intervals (sprint/endurance training)
Tuesday: Distance run
Wednesday: Tempo run
Thursday: Pool workout (aqua jogging)
Friday: Intervals (400's)
After we finish, we do sets of push ups and sit ups/crunches/planks.

Definitely up your mileage after 2 weeks by a mile or whatever is comfortable.
I always start back into a season by running a flat 3 miles every day for seven days for 2 weeks, then up it to 6-8 for a week, up it to 10-12 and so on until mid season (never go too far). and stay around 12-16.
But that's for serious track distance.
Run 2.5-3 for a few weeks, then up it to 3.5-4 for a couple weeks, then 4.5-5.

The body is still healing from the tearing and ripping of the slow twitch and the fast twitch muscle fibers, five minutes after your work eat a banana, the potassium helps greatly with the healing. Also twenty minutes after your work out eat a small piece of dark chocolate to help with your blood flow and the sugars will allow your body to heal faster.

Haha, yeah. High reps are usually for after the muscle is already there and conditioned so it cuts more. If you really want to do it, make yourself go to the gym and just bust ass and get a routine going.

Me and a mate are thinking about starting, if we find a gym inbetween both of us, it will be easier cause we can both motivate each other I guess...

But right now theres like a fitness epidemic due to shows like the biggest looser... motherfuckers pack the gyms now.. So iunno...

Really though, if there are a bigger gym around you, go there. I go to one of the biggest gyms there are in the metroplex and as packed as it is, you rarely have to "share" equipment.

Do you have a membership? or pay as you go?

The huge gyms here have some pretty ridiculous fees involved... Hence why smaller ones are generally packed.

Yeah, I have a membership, but they charge month by month. I'm not locked into a year or anything. Studies show a beer or two after the gym can be more refueling than straight water. ;)

If I start going, It will be before work... so Alcohol isnt really an option after it. + My main focus to begin with will be weight loss, as I really want to get rid of my gut before I start bulking.

So 6'4" 235lbs. There's no "spot" treatment so you're going to have to get a full body workout + a lot of cardio + eating right to get rid of the most fat you can. What would be your short term and long term goals?

I dont really have specific goals... Im not aiming to be ripped, and I dont have any sort of specific weight Im aiming for... I just want to get rid of the gut and tone up a bit.. I wouldn't mind a bit more mass up top, as my legs are already decent (from riding bicycles and swiming for years) But once I get to a set size, I would just be happy to maintain it..

Dunno haha, Really havent put heaps of thought into it..

Haha, well if you can, you can just start out by doing cardio. Running, biking, speed walking, swimming, whatever to get your heart pumping again and also help you shed excess fat in the process. You don't have to be committed to a gym right away if you don't want to right away.

If you figure out what goals you want to set, I (or anyone like Josh) can help out with a routine/plan to fit your goals. I think Josh would be better, though. He's a personal trainer.

I need to get rid of my belly fat first, then bulk a little more. I don't want to be super skinny, either, but then I don't want to look completely disproportional because I'm only 5'6 and 128-130lbs and already have a small frame. I think I can bulk another 10lbs worth of muscle max and I think I'd be done for size. Just looking for cut/definition really.

I'd bet you could put on more than that though, if you were to do heavy lifting with legs. I put on a lot of weight when I was finally able to put my legs back into my workout (after back surgery), about 15-20lbs in my legs alone.

I'd say 155lb is a good goal for your frame.

The only leg lifts I do are squats. I can already see more definition in my thighs. Might incorporate some calve raises or something.

Petis
03-08-2011, 03:47 PM
All the calf raises i do now (and have had the best results) are one leg at a time using only my body weight and holding a 30lb dumbell in the hand on the side of the leg I am using. Standing on an elivated platform of course. I do about 10-12 reps on each side between each set of 2-3 different workouts.
Ex. On a chest day. between each set of flat bench, I do my calf raises. Then between the sets of the next workout, decline cable press/flys, I do my calf raises. Then between the sets of my next workout, incline dumbell alternating press, I do them again.
No need to use heavy weight to get good size and definition out of your calves. I use to do heavy weight and full workouts for them and I never had the results I'm getting now.

I don't do squats, due to my back surgery, so I do lunges, leg extensions and leg curls. Both are done with one leg at a time.

Moved up in weight today all around. I may need to take some weight off of squat though. Not as deep as I'd like to be honest.

- Run 2.5 miles (wasn't feeling cardio today; usually do 3-3.5 miles).
- Bench 140 5x5 (up 5lbs from last week)
- Squats 205 5x5 (may go down to 195 and get a bit deeper)
- Deadlift 205 5x5 (up from 185 from last 2 weeks)
- Pull ups 3x5
- Chin ups 3x5

Dont mind the frown, being nocturnal, sunlight is painfull on the eyes. also, disregard hair lol.

Aim is to loose most of my gut before I head out there. I dont have any real weight figure that Im aiming for, just gonna start excercising when I get the chance. Next week Ill pick up an excercise bike, and as much as I **** cardio, its the only real way I see any chance of me shedding some fat. My diet could be better, but its not the worst. Hardest part is portion control as I love food.

Not planning on using any sups to begin with, will be doing basic weight training with dumbells at home. Cant afford gym atm.

Feel free to chime in with some tips guise, Its been a while since I have done any excercise haha.

Everyone needs to read Starting Strength. The 3 main lifts: bench press, deadlift and squat are kings in gaining mass and strength. Combine that with pull ups and chin ups, you don't really need to do anything else.

This is my routine as of lately. I weigh around 125-127.

Bench:

150 2x5

Chin Up:

Squat:

Actually just looked it up and SS is powerclean, PP is deadlift.

Most people don't do power cleans until they know how to do it correctly because it can get technical. You really don't HAVE to, but those 3 main lifts are what strength competitions are based off of. Squats, deadlift and bench.

That's the size of girls that I date lol. My boy is 5'6" and 195lbs. Your height isn't an excuse, short guys bulk faster than tall ones.

I'm 5'7" 170. I need to lose some of the fat I have, but without the fat on my stomach, I would be happy staying at 170.

I'd like to stay at 140-150. I think that's a good spot for me. I don't need to be super swole, I just want to have some more definition and have my arms not look like toothpicks hahah.

Takes way less effort for short guys to get big

Are you trying to gain weight at all?

To an extent, yes. But, looking to be cut and defined more than gaining weight and being "bigger."

If I can get to about 140, I'd be happy as far as weight goes.

PS: Kielan, must be nice starting out with a 6 haha.

Haha, I'd be concerned if I couldn't even bench the bar or DL 50lbs. ;) I'm much more concerned about my strength than what the scales said and how "big" I look.

So you've been doing SS for 5 months and your bench is 150?

SS for about 3 months. First 2 months I did BS that really did nothing for me.

Oh lol, yeah no matter what I do I can't really gain belly fat. And its not really that much of a 6, not that much definition or anything to it. When I'm not flexing its only barely visible, I'd like to have the definition I have flexing without having to flex haha.

I've never maxed if that's what you're asking. 150 is my rep weight. I started rep weight at 115 bench when I started SS. +25lbs over body weight is pretty decent so far I think.

Also started squats at 135 and deadlifts at 135 as well.

I can only see top 4 if I flex hard to the point where I feel like I'm going to pass out. :rofl

I've accepted the fact that I'll never have a 6pack showing. I don't diet and I **** cardio. But go ahead punch me in the stomach and try to tell me ur wrist doesn't hurt afterwards ;) haha

Just reading through this thread makes me exhausted.

I'm so fucking out of shape I **** it, but not enough to change... yet.

I did p90x a couple years ago, I followed the eating plan as close as possible and didn't miss a day, I had a 4 pack for the first time in my life, but I got way too skinny. I did like seeing muscles that I didn't even know I had though, but I would need to bulk up before I did p90x again.

I'm 5' 10", 165lb right now, when I did p90x I was down to 143lbs. Maybe this thread will help motivate me to start working out, smoking everyday (trying to cut back...) and eating horrible food for the majority of the week doesn't help anything. When I get home from work I'm usually exhausted and at 20 years old it shouldn't be like that, even if I get up at 5 A.M. everyday. I need more energy.

I'd like to gain some muscle weight and be around 175lbs. I guess. Not really worried about the number, just how I feel and the looks I wouldn't mind so much either.

I'll update with some recent pictures whenever I get off the couch.
