The Peleng is a novelty. I rarely use it. Good lens but a steep learning curve (it's a full manual lens).
The Sigma's are superb. You can't go wrong for the money with the EX line. The rest of their lenses are meh. The 70-200 was about the same price as the Canon 70-200 f/4 L and the Sigma is much nicer, plus of course the f/2.8 is a bonus. The 2x teleconverter works great with the 70-200 in daylight; I use that for shooting motorsports.

I have 2 SB-600s and want a decent, reliable remote trigger option. I have looked at pocket wizard and talked to mike about CyberSync, but neither seem to have a solution for speedlights (for nikon at least for pocket wizard has suff for cannon and coming for nikon later this year) any suggestions, or on a decent priced set of strobes?

I had an oldschool 300D. I seriously lost it, but I think I got jacked because I am also missing about $500 in tools recently. Either way, I have been playing with my friends D70 and my sisters D40. I can safely say I am going to make the switch to Nikon. I have grown fond of their camera setups now. Even though 90% of my friends shoot canon.

Stan Marsh
06-26-2009, 12:56 AM
I definitely want to make the switch, I prefer how you adjust the shutter and apeture on the Nikon formats much much more than Canon, but I intially went canon way way way back when I was on film and never looked back till now.

Have you used a "modern" Canon body to compare to this Nikons?
psiglx
06-26-2009, 07:42 AM
i use canon for all my point and shoots, very easy and great feel but for my dslr nikon felt better in my hands. i dont care how much something is rated; if it doesnt feel right, i wont use it.
go with what feels better to you. canon is cheaper then nikon, nikon has superior glass to canon, canon and nikon bodies are almost the same when compared. i think the last rating i saw was the new canon and nikon d5000 and one was 98 the other 97, they are that close.

Why do you guys need so many lenses, damn.
FreshLikeSushi
04-01-2010, 06:06 PM
most of these guys dont, they just think they do.
i keep mine for specific uses, the only ones that overlap are primes
most people are good with just 3 lenses, a wide, mid, and tele
Ignapu

agreed i really only use the 70-200 and the 11-16, the other lenses collect dust really. Occasionally i will use the 28-135 when i dont want to carry around both of the above mentioned lenses

They aren't the greatist but they help me get shots when I've been up nearly 24 hours, and they certainly beat any of the food offered at most of the venues I shoot at.

Hama (cheap ass) tripod
Nikon ML-L3 remote
Hoya uv filter
SanDisk Extreme (30mb/s) 4gb SDHC
and my glove box camera is a Panasonic Lumix FX7 Leica optics.
but as I feel I'm getting quit lost in all the Lens names and specifics, I would love to hear your recommendations for a new lens.
I wanna start with a good, but love price range zoom options.
Have now been looking at a Nikon AF-S DX 55-200/4-5,6G ED VR lens, but don't know how much difference it would make if I got one with out the VR stabilization. For example a Sigma AF70-300/4-5,6 DG NIKON. I Norway the price difference is about 600 NOK.
So after the tele lens I will start to look at wide angle lenses....
DO want some of the great stuff you guys got :devillook

I know :o. I'm in school for journalism and photojournalism and really like photograghy. Plus right now I'm living at home, 19, and work about 35 to 40 hours a week so I usually have a lot of free money in my account. I usually try to put it into the 240, but since winter is coming I don't want to do anything. Plus I figure I'll use the 5D for years so it'll pay off. I sometimes question it too, but it'll be fun.

Im always back and forth with what type of lenses setup I want. Im always buying and selling trying to get the perfect kit. Ill always enjoy shooting a sharp fast prime, but there are some things that I shoot where I need an adjustable focal length. I think im trading my 85 1.8 for a 50 1.4. I used to have the 50 1.4 but I wanted something a little longer for portraits but im just not using the 85 as much as I did the 50, its just a more usable length.

Can anyone advice me...
I've bought my DSLR stuff from last year almost completed the sets. I was mainly influenced by my close friends.
They shoot mostly models, landscapes and streets. That is where I mostly spend my time with photo shooting but I do start to feel boring doing the same thing again and again. My photoshop skill is not good so I tend to belive and promote "shoot as it is" moto and try avoiding PP.
Today, I would like to sell them all once and for all and spend the cash on my newly bought E46 since I seldom use it anymore and get a simple point and shoot for family use BUT one thing I just found out that I can make use of my gadgets and begineer skills in photo shooting cars etc ... like what most of you guys do. Possible meet new other car enthusiast and make their car as the model to shoot with...
Since I'm planning a Stance community here in Hong Kong, I might as well keep them for future purposes, events etc ...
What do you suggest?
Here are my specs:
Nikon D300
Nikon SB600
Nikon 10-24 mm + Kenko protector
Nikon 35 mm + Kenko protector
Nikon 70-300 mm VR + Kenko protector

What do you think of these lenses, what are their pros/cons on a crop frame sensor and what do you use each for.
I absolutely love these lenses. They are definitely great for how cheap they were, my father nor myself can name any cons for these lenses on the 4 bodies we use. We did a lot of research on what lenses to pick up and all of these have gotten nothing but good ratings.
The 50mm f/1.8 was only a 50$ lens but it is fantastic in low light conditions.
I use the 24-70 as an alternative to the 28-135 mainly on the 7D.
The 70-200 is a slow lens but for telephoto purposes it's absolutely amazing. Lastly the 35mm is for when I need wide angle shots and really fast shots, it's a really nice little lens
