PB blast works wonders. Just spray some on and whack it a few times. A hammer and screw driver helps. It sounds like you got hung up on the threads by crossing 'em.

so it's completely seized now. i'm taking the strut out, cutting the collar off very carefully and replacing it. hopefully the new one is here early next week. good thing i don't have a job.
