Tagging people in threads

I don't know if this forum has it, but I think it needs a way to tag someone in a post. Say someone doesn't get on the forum much, like the author of a build thread you could put @screenname and it would send a pm/email to said person about the post that was just entered.

you can just pm said person?

and correct me if i'm wrong, but you can get automated messages when someone posts in your thread (or other threads for that matter)
