Thanks guys! :)
Yeah, I'd like a 3.8L. Factory rolled fenders! ;) That's the coolest feature I've ever seen.
But it looks like I'll have an EG Civic hatch project soon...
dinanm3atl
06-29-2009, 01:20 AM
Negative on the 3.8L. You don't want a factory NA V6 when a factory 2.0L Turbo is available. Engine flash the turbo and you are faster than the V6. Add in a front mount, full exhaust, intake and you are way faster!
06tiburonofdoom
06-29-2009, 01:30 AM
Haha, true, but I'd like to build a N/A beast with the 3.8. And you can't go wrong with the sound it gives you! But if I wanted bang for my buck, then yeah, a 2L would be cheaper. :)

Hmmm, it does look like a lip spoiler in those pics... It's actually all part of the shape of the hatch! You can see how it's all flat in the profile pic. But that would be a neat idea otherwise!
I might be getting a body colored factory high spoiler for it. I still haven't decided.

I got my Powered by Max fender roller and removed the liner and rolled and pulled the driver's side front fender, and now I have a TON more room to work with! I can go like 1/3" and put a 10mm adapter in there pretty easily, I'd say.

Wow, thats gorgeous. My ex (stupid slut) that I dated for about 4 years had a clean Tib that I helped her build. It was a Midnight Blue SE (6-speed/V6). At the time of her slwhoring it up and cheating on me, it was lowered on Tanabe DF210 springs, DC front strut bar, Tanabe twin hyper medallion cat-back, Fujita F5 CAI, ARK short throw, 18" Enkei WDMs and Shark Racing headlight eyelids. I miss turning a wrench on that car. But I don't miss the ex, haha.
Once again, clean ride man.

Woah, I do! I always forget about the Chevelle... If it ever gets done, then I'll claim it. It just sits in our shop on jack stands with a cover on it... :(
I'm pretty excited to get started on the EG! I'm just gonna do small stuff for now. My parents don't want me laying it on the ground until I get out of college. I'll try to talk them into it... It's my problem, so I don't see why it matters.
The list for now, excluding coilovers, is a short throw shifter, PasswordJDM smoked corner lights, JDM black bezel headlights, CF hatch spoiler, Omni rear camber arms, Function7 lower control arms, JDM front lip, and other little interior bits to occupy me until I get wheels and coilovers.

07-20-2009, 01:31 PM
Here's my new DD! Project EG! It needs coilovers SO badly, but my parents said not for school driving. At least until I talk them into it like I did with my car. ;) It's my money and my problem, so why would it matter?!
I'll do little things until I can do wheels and coilovers, though. Like smoked corner lights, JDM black housing headlights, some snazzy tail lights I've seen, JDM front lip, CF spoiler (like the stock one, but a little longer), short throw shifter, and things like that. It still needs some cleaning up and a couple of little things fixed, but it was in AWESOME overall condition. The motor was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago, freshly recharged A/C, brand new tires, new wheels, new brake pads, somewhat new paint (needs the front and rear bumper repainted, though), and adult owned!

Haha, oh yes!
Next, I'll probably get an antenna block off plate, smoked corner lights, and new rocker moldings (side skirts).
For the Tib, maybe a rear diffusor? I'm not too sure what I wanna do with the rear yet, because I like the cleanliness of it now. There's not really much left to do on the Tib's exterior.

The motor was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago, freshly recharged A/C, brand new tires, new wheels, new brake pads, somewhat new paint (needs the front and rear bumper repainted, though), and adult owned!

fitment is on point to me....
06tiburonofdoom
08-31-2009, 04:32 PM
Thanks guys! Yeah, I definitely like the fitment now, but I'm gonna try a setup with more stretch and camber in the rear.
My main reason for getting the 18x10s was because after I got home from driving around one night and was cleaning off the dust and bugs and such, a saw that about a 3" area of paint had flaked off around the rim of my drivers rear wheel. It gave me a big empty feeling and made me nauseous... Haha
So I sat there staring, thinking about repainting it, but then it hit me. Anyone that knows me could tell you that I never fix something back to how it was. I make it better! So I'm just gonna go all out with the 10s. :)

I actually added even more camber after the "fun" pictures, but I was honestly scared to set it down because of how firmly it was pressed against the fender.

06tiburonofdoom
09-08-2009, 09:57 PM
Haha, yeah, I just installed some aftermarket control arms on Sunday. :)
I can get about a degree or so more than what I had in the crazy camber pics, but I wasn't man enough to put it on the ground. I might try it when I get the 18x10s on! If I don't feel man enough to do it with 10" wheels on a Hyundai, I'll never feel man enough.

06tiburonofdoom
09-08-2009, 11:44 PM
Haha, it was just because of how hard the tire was pushing against the fender. For some stupid reason, when you add camber, it pushes the top of the wheel out a tiny bit, as well. The bottom moves way more, of course, but that makes it pretty difficult to do a camber tuck. I'll make it work!
Looks crazy... bit moar guard rolling and she'll be schweeet!

I was wondering how your wheels would fit WITHOUT the camber, but then I realized that whatever arms you got add camber from the bottom of the wheel and the top stays relatively unchanged, correct?
06tiburonofdoom
09-09-2009, 10:45 AM
It does move the top a little, but not much. It is enough to make it need a little more fender work if I wanted to run more camber, though.

I still need to do a couple of final adjustments (space the passenger side out another mm or so) and get an alignment pretty badly. I ended up with more camber than I thought, so I was happy! I even had spattered rubber (those are definitely not scratches or dirt! Haha). The specs ended up being 18x10 +31 with a 225/40 FK452. I'm loving it so far!

Well I just messed around with it for a couple of hours. I went through TONS of washers to find the right sizes, because it has to be absolutely perfect in there, otherwise you're either grinding trailing arm or eating fender.
I did take a grinder to the trailing arm that was rubbing to give a tiny bit more clearance, then I still had to space that wheel out a little more. I tried doing a small newspaper pull, but I was getting way too irritated to take my time, so I just said screw it. So I just sat it down and drove it. It had quite a bit of rubbing at first, accompanied by a stream of smoke from the tires, but it eventually got back to about how it was with the 9.5s, rubbing-wise. I would say that more fender work would be nice, but we'll see how this works for now.

Looking great. Can't wait to see the front spaced out a little more to match the rear.

Thanks alot! That house is actually my grandparents'. They own my neighborhood. :)

Thanks! Yeah, I really need to get those adapters on.

Thank you! :D
I guess I either need to get shorter studs or grind the stock ones down a little to make the adapters work, because there's not enough space on the back of my wheel for the factory studs to fit into. Any suggestions?

Haha, it's not a huge neighborhood, really. It's a 40 acre private gated community thing. There's only like 7 houses all together.:)

Finally got some adapter action going on up front! As of now, it's 18x8.5" +29. Not bad! As you can see, it's incredibly close, but I think I could go either a little wider or a little lower. That'll be a hard choice, so I'll try to do both! :)

Seriously looks ridiculously good, and not just for a hyundai coupe either. I need to find a pic of a terrible looking coupe from around my way just to show you how they do it in Scotland.

Well, just for an update, there's some custom fender work on the way, so I'm looking at wheels a little more heavily now. The new fender work should hopefully allow something around an 18x12" +0 or so in back and an 18x10" +0 up front. :)
I've also been considering rebuilding some 5 spoke Equips to those specs, but I'm not too sure about how it would look. What do you guys think?

Damn dude, this turned out freakin sick! good work, rears look reallllll good.....and IMO Equips I think would suit your car proper.

Very nice work on taking a car most scoff at and turning it into a "What the...." I bet alot of people do a double take when you roll through.

So I think out of every Tiburon owner in the world, you have the best tastes. Very very nice work, pumped to see the new fender work! Will it just be pulled or flare-ish things?

Thanks a lot, guys! I appreciate it! :)
I was gonna have a fancy pull done, but then I remembered some Korean mini flare-like things I had seen, so I found a way to get them since they were basically exactly what I was gonna have done. As far as I know, I'm the only one in the U.S. to have them! :alright
I'm doing too many never-before-done things with this car. Haha
So I'll get those little flares molded in and find me some wheels! I'm still wondering how the Equips would look... :devillook
The front is definitely gonna be an 18x10 with a 225/35, but every other aspect of the setup won't be determined until I see how much room I have to play with.
Here's a pic of a car in Korea with the flares. I wonder if it's turbo'd... :shifty
But picturing it slammed with some poke...Hell yes. I hope...

Thanks guys! :) Yeah, I'm waiting for a guy to make some adjustable front control arms for me, then I'll throw plentiful camber at the front! Haha That'll all be part of the next setup. :D

Man, I had forgotten all about those fender flares. Lol if I didn't want a Bimmer so bad then I'd probably be your pseudo clone rollin around. I've always wanted that hood, and the flares are legit.
