I mean dont get me wrong there are a bunch of stanced New minis on here that look top notch, but its just something about the old ones that looks so much better :cool. With that said id like to introduce my Classic Mini build. Its been sitting in my garage for a year and a half waiting to be finished and now that i finally got some time on my hands thats exactly what ima do. It started out as a father son project, but was cut short when my dad pasted away. Anyways, its a 1961 MK1 with 1968 Cooper S engine/tranny, LCB header, Weber side draft carb, HiLo adjustable suspension cones, S brakes, and 10x7 minisport wheel with 205/50/10 rubber. Hopefully i can score some 13s to run some stretch :eyebrows. Thats enough info till my next update, here are some pics from last night:

There's a company called Z Cars and they make all kinds of conversions for Minis. They have a kit where they put a Hayabusa engine in the back of a Mini. Also there is anoter group that sells an all wheel drive conversion using a honda vtec engine and CRV tranny. Heres a video of the all wheel drive Mini :eyebrows

Alright, so yesterday i started going threw all the extra parts i had for my mini and found a longer/better flowing intake manifold for my weber so i decided to throw it on. First problem i had was that there wasn't enough room between the dash panel and the engine for the carb/mani to fit. So i had to trim the panel a bit to make some room. After i had enough room i mounted the carb and new mani and started to build a box to separate the carb from the interior. I borrowed the sheet metal for the box from a old filing cabinet that i was gona throw away, but I'll be redoing it in aluminum along with a driver side gauge panel later on.

correct. I wanted a mk2. Only got this to make money on it as it was really cheap back home but it over heats and i just havnt had the time to look at it. Thats what you get for having a great idea with a friend to make money and he doesnt listen to what you want.

Nice one, looks pretty solid for a MK1. What else have you done to it?
Stick with the 10's though, 13's will make it handle like a bus ! :D

Yup, there are a few over here in the US, but Mini Sport has nicer parts with lower prices. Only trade off is the extra shipping cost, but still manages to be cheaper then the US suppliers :confused.

Interesting, i've only ever used Minisport once and i will not be using them again, they take ages to deliver the parts you ordered. I prefer Minispares.com and so do many of my friends. Much friendlier and faster at delivering ! :)

Timing couldn't have been better guys, I just got an email from Mini Sport saying that half of the parts i ordered are out of stock. I don't get why it took them a week and a half to notify me :confused. I'll just cancel the order and take a look at these other sites. Thanks.

I got some work done on the mini these past few days, but forgot to take pics of most of the work :(. After canceling my order from Mini Sport, I ordered some stuff from Mini Mania. Got the stuff three days after ordering so I was happy. I started out wrapping the wiring with black electrical tape. Then I removing the valve cover, starter, generator, dizzy, oil filter housing and cooler, thermostat housing and some brackets to prep and paint flat black. While all of those where drying I cleaned the block and repainted it with original Mowog green paint and started reassembling everything with the new gaskets I ordered. I also installed a soft mount kit for the weber and bolted it back on. With the engine back together I moved to the front suspension. I pulled the lower arms off painted them and put new urethane bushings in. I also tried fitting my group 5 arches, but the fitment was horrible so I'm gona stick with the OEM black flares for now. Ive been dieing to take the mini out for a quick spin, but im gona have to wait cuz its raining again.

That looks great. I've had a fair bit of track time in early Coopers and, even though I feel faintly ridiculous driving 'em (I'm 6ft 3in), they handle beautifully.
If ever you need any help getting parts from the UK, reach out.

Its been a while, but after seeing Ash's build I really felt the need to do some wrenching on my mini today. Started by welding up my exhaust and header because the clamps just weren't doing it for me and it was just my luck that I contacted the brake line and put a hole in it. I cut the hole out and fitted a compression union for a quick and easy fix and started to bleed the brakes. Also, started adjusting my suspension to get rid of my reverse rake. Only got one pic today, but I will charge up my camera and get some more tomorrow.
