Wanted to be the first thread on the updated site.
EDIT: OK trying this again. Well some time ago, around July 14th 2010 a few day before my birthday, I found this. 635csi - $500 Now this I had to see.
Well the car had been sitting in their driveway just shy of 5 years. It was dusty, the tires were rotted out, full of cobwebs (i **** spiders), battery was dead, engine wouldnt crank when jumped. But at the end of the day it was still an e24, even the wifey liked it (she saw potential), so i told the guy "$400 if i can get it running". He agreed and i went back home for tools bigger charger and a set of temp wheels from an e32 we had at the time.

My Pop's was with me and well he knows magic and shit so he got it running in no time. Then the guy tells me "Hey I can't find the key or paperwork" :confused :mad WTF MAN!!! Ok he finds the key and tells me he dad has the paperwork.. :mad He seems honest and ledgit so I tell him $300 now a bill of sale and when you find the paperwork ill give you the other $100. Deal is made i get a car for my birhtday fuck yeah world is right and all is at it should.
The tank was empty so we fixed a leak grabbed gas and drove it home, about 10 miles, mind you no tags since 2005. Sounded and idled like shit. Would have towed but AAA was being a bunch of bitches. Got her home and gave her a wash. Went the the pick-a-part down the street grabbed some hood shocks and window switches, also fixed a leak in the intake with some tape. A week later found a great deal on set of 1.25" spacers then a month later a set of wheels. Hell yes things are coming together.

Yeah the valance looks like shit but it was just sitting there for now. I got bored so I test fit the ACS 18x8.5 with +1.25" spacer. I never got the paperwork so i ended up getting the car for $300 out right but I did not want to deal with the DMV so its just sitting in my driveway for now. :( DD an a4 in the mean time.

Yup i was 4x4 status. Well i get a house hell yes. Sadly no garage :'( and after 8months of "ownership" I figure its time to deal with the DMV and get it in my name. Did i mention the person i got it from never actually put it in their name either? yeah :confused WTF right? Anyways make a long story short this thing I've been dreading for 8months turned out to be fairly easy and painless. thank goodness. well aside from the $600 for tags since 05. Get it smogged cuz I know people ;) :devillook and start DD. HELL YES :alright
Then i got some wheels for my e46. but I tried them on the 6 for a little while. please dont laugh.

1.25 in spacer still in there

at some point i got set of heated powered leather sports seats for the e46 but the wifey didnt like them cuz they were in bad shape. to the 6 they go with the help of a bracket for the rear bolt. Did i mention they interrior was pretty much trash cuz the windows were down since 2005? Yeah the carpet is destoryed.

my friends helped me pull me head out of my ass and i sourced a proper set of wheels. A set of ACT LS mesh in 16x8.5 et10 NO MORE SPACERS :alright woot woot. I got fed up with the valance looking so messed up so i chose to paint it black. Also caught some length out of those springs. :eyebrows

Since then I have a set of Euro corners and an early euro front bumper. also got a set of rear coilovers working on gettin fronts. This is an early model e12 base so parts are not as common as the later e28 base. eventually going to go bags but that wont be for a while. No pictures yet at this stage. Ill get some this weekend.

how much shipped to the US? 92506 never thought to look overseas figured it be cheaper to go local. but parts are not always easy to find.

Should work once i source power from the cig lighter. the early sixes didnt come with power seats so i dont have connections there. i rigged a cable to the battery to get them where i wanted then remove the cable. keeps people from messing with my settings lol.

Front bumper isn't to bad IMO. Hard part s getting a hold of one and the mounting brackets. Im working on building my own. Have it holding with some temp mounts now but Ill take pictures of what im building for the long haul. :) Now the rear can be a much bigger plain as there are so many variations. Not sure what im doing about that just yet. I will update as I go.

Love the wheels, but 15s are really hard to pull off on an e24. If those were 16" or 17", they'd be the business!
IMO If you plan to run them, you need to run like a 225/50 to pull it off.

Whole heartedly agree. Going to polish the lips soon and lower the front just a bit more. eventually i hope to run 245/55 or something close to it with proper tire fender fitment.
I will get better pics soon. the last one isnt doing much for the car at all.

That will bulge WAY too much. 225/50/15 will be meaty without looking like too much of monster truck.

Take a mallet and a heat gun to that and it will look like new :)
My friend ruined a set of rikens(optional FC wheels) by what he claimed to have been running over a "good sized" rock. I got the wheel and heated it up with a heat gun and smashed it back about 3" on one side and 1" on the other.
It looked like shit without a restoration, but for a ghetto fab job it held air.

Did the wheel fall off because it wasnt bolted tight enough?
I had a similar experience with a rear tyre - although the wheel was torqued up, it only had 4 bolts of 5, was out of balence, and snapped a bolt. Didnt quite fall off but almost did, was scary as hell.
Well, moral of story, use good bolts and torque them up TIGHT. These cars are heavier than you think.
Good luck with the project.
Get some BBS rims on there!

Got a new project car so this is getting put on hold for a little while. Doing a full strip down and color change so that requires all my attention for now.

Looks the best in it's current state. That's sketch about the wheel. I'm only running 4 bolts on one of my corners because one of my studs stripped out. Maybe I should fix that....

I'd never really paid much attention to these in the past, but looking at them now, the body lines on em are absolutely perfect for what the car is. Time to hit up the classifieds lol.

Car looks so much better than when you got it.
Cut a coil or something and this will look even better.
Just do it, no questions.

Oh wow this is amazing. I actually was liking the look of it on those smaller wheels, would have looked the business with more low. That being said it looks so great now!
Where did you get those mesh wheels centres for the ACT's?
And what are you running for suspension? I also have an early e24 and parts are difficult to find!

the mesh are 16x8 the enkies 15x8.5 I'm going to get some really meaty tires for the 16s. I want that mean track look. Suspension wise im running cut springs in front on bilstein HD shocks rear im runing coilovers on Bilstein Sport shocks. The early model shares parts with the e12 and a few parts from other models but parts can be a real pain. BF.C 6 series subforum is a great resource of knowledge and parts.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out that subforum. I have thought about cutting springs but I don't want to ruin the handling of the car as I love driving it aggressively when the time is right. Not sure how that would effect this particular car but I have heard bad things about cut springs. Do you have Ground Control coilovers for the rear? As far as I know that is the only company that makes E12/earlyE24 coilovers

Don't know the name of the coilover I have now. But Ireland engineering makes a few parts for the early models. They are just not listed on the website, you have to call in. I know they make a set of coilovers for a lot less then ground control. Same or better quality for a fraction of the price.
Also Imo the car felt better after I cut the springs. A little stiffer and less like a floating boat. The biggest factor is the shocks.

For the mesh. 16x8s with 205/40/16 tires. I want to get wider and taller tires soon tho.

I beleive they are gta wheels. They look exactly the same expect all the gta wheels ive seem are black and these where gold. The polished lips and faces came after, still have gold windows. I will try to remember to take a close up.

Thanks for the info
Is a lot of the wheel lip exposed with the 205/40's? Like super stretched look? Im in the process of picking tires for my 16x8's, want something slightly stretched, but not super stretched lots of lip exposed. Got any close up shots of that wheel tire combo?
X2 with the info on the e24 subforum on bf.c , although a lot of the guys are purists and don't care for the stanced look. We'll see what happens after I post some pics over there after I lower my 6 lol.
