hey guys like i said imma be painting my rims white before the show in SB next week and i was really thinkin of layin down a layer of glow in the dark spray on em.......
ive been debating on if i should do it or not.
now this glow in the dark paint needs to be charged before it glows and i think thas a good thing cuz i dont think id want them glowing constantly at night.
during the day the rims will appear white but at night theyll either glow or just be white....
fawk i just dont noe how much shit id get about rolling around on rims that glow in the dark....
watchu guys think??

The problem with glow in the dark wheels is that by the time it gets dark enough to look good, you're going to lose your charge.
BMWerke
12-13-2009, 02:17 PM
how many hrs would a good charge last?....cuz i am a sneaker designer and i use glow in the dark paint but the paint charges from any type of light it comez in contact with, sun light, light bulbs etc.....

i think most of the glow in the dark sprays are a clear overlay...
not too sure.

do it!! i guess you can just keep a light in your car and at night before a drive just charge them up. I think they will look good. some one needs to paint their wheels florescent yellow so when you hit them with headlights those bad boys light up
BMWerke
12-13-2009, 02:55 PM
how long do u need to shine a light on them?
ginger_snaps
12-13-2009, 02:57 PM
i would assume only a couple minutes on each wheel?
l!zerd
12-13-2009, 02:59 PM
how long do u need to shine a light on them?
depending on the paint and what u use to charge them, some say they can last a couple hours.
fiziks
12-13-2009, 03:03 PM
hours? every glow in the dark paint I've ever seen lasts like 15 mins tops. If you feel like getting out and shining a flashlight at your wheels so you can look uber cool at meets, eh, be my guest.

try Micheals
Nate325
12-13-2009, 08:04 PM
on the f/a 18, they have formation lights, which are just glowing strips like in a wristwatch, but they glow all the time, You could maybe find something like that and put it inside the dish, and you could have whatever color you wanted your rim to be.
it would look bad ass at night, either just sitting or spinning because it would illuminate from behind.

I've debated doing glow in the dark lips before.
They would most likely get charged up decently well if you cruise through a well lite parking garage and then gangster slow rolled out into the night.
Or if a friend rolls alongside a bit behind with bright ass headlights hitting the rim a lil', and then backing off to let the glow be seen.
Concept and idea is neat but the glow charge wouldn't last super long, but the effect while it lasts would be wicked while it did.
You could also engineer some way to set up some black light UV LEDS into your wheel wells and that shiz would light them up good if the light got to them well enough.
This dude used black light LEDs on his gauges with orange..

I looked into this in the past, if you go onto that glowinc.com site and go to the forum they have, you can research what has worked and what hasn't for people. It seemed to me the best bet was to add a "glow powder" into a paint and go that route
