Didn't really know where to ask this but, what do you guys prefer in your DD's or in general Automatic or Manual transmission?
I'm kind of torn between them both, I like auto for just cruising and if the car is super slammed I'm not going to track it or anything so I don't really need a manual trans. But performance wise I prefer a manual.

My DD's are always autos. Driving a clutch in traffic gets old real fast...

I specifically looked for an automatic when I was looking for my Touring. It's going to be my DD, with the height I'm aiming for handling will be compromised anyways, so I just want it to be able to do some relaxed cruising.
Nowadays, after I've gotten used to it, I gotta say, I would not really want another manual DD again. Manual is very fun and has it's place - in a fun car, imo. Something to tackle the corners with, something smallish and quick.

i think its harder to be careful for potholes and bumps when you drive manual. so stance + auto is optimal imo.

i have an audi tt 6 speed manual as a DD. i **** it in traffic, but it is fun otherwise. im torn as well. Once i sell it, which is hopefully soon, i am getting an 04 S4 which will probably be a 6 speed manual too so i guess i dont mind it that much. Auto is easier, but can be quite boring if used for anything else other then driving in traffic.
My Z is slammed and also manual trans. Hard to be slammed, stanced, and manual trans in NY, but there is no other way to do it right.

mm slowing down to like... less than 10 mph for a turn while being conscious of the curb/trying not to rub tire

I'm still confused as to why you find that hard. Not like it takes being Einstein to be able to downshift and turn at the same time without hitting something.

im just saying thats theres more stuff you gotta be conscious of if you're driving manual + stance lol. w.e

Manual all the way :D. I just like having that much more control over my car. You get used to the traffic.

Dunno, I've been thinking about getting a 4 door jetta and slamming it, so no reason to really be manual 'cause I'm just going to DD and nothing else, I'm too poor for racing anyways lol
My car is dd and I would have gotten dsg but I instead bought huffs and votex. Ive gotten used to manual now though.

My e36 is a auto. Its my dd to get to and from college and my winter stance project (got coilovers for christmas and finishing my style19s this month woohoo). I do like automatic when driving in heavy traffic, but miss the feel of the 3rd pedal. Its a love/**** relationship.

first i need to have a DD to choose but right now i have that DSG tranny and though it can be fun its boring. Its fun to pretend your driving a ferrari or f1 car with the paddles that actually work but its still not the same. And as soon as your with other car fanatics and you tell them you drive an auto all of a sudden your pathetic LOL, that and i have had to replace my DSG twice!!!! fucking twice!!!! it keeps failing and eating gears. Manual is always the better choice.

My truck is a manual. I love it, but, I commute from Livermore to San Jose to work 5 days a week and traffic is usually bumper to bumper on the way home. That is why the Saturn is a auto. Because I am pretty sure I would go insane having to drive a clutch in that traffic every day.

My old Altima SER and my current MR2 (both DD's of course) are both manual, and as much as I love the control and extra fun you get with a manual just cruising around, let alone in the 1/4 mile, auto X or drift events, for a DD that is simply to cruise around and look good in (what my DD will be after I decide if I'm going to build up the MR2 or pick up another project), I'm starting to entertain the idea of an auto.

my DD is a manual. i wish my "weekend" car was manual. its really the only way to do it. if you can handle driving a car that scrapes everywhere and you live in fear of manhole covers, i think you can handle a 3rd pedal in traffic :rofl

You will always have more control over the car with a manual than an auto.. Cars wouldn't even be interesting to me in automatic.

Mines a manual. I wouldn't want to do it any other way unless I had a huge, luxury vehicle or something.

every single car i've ever owned ( all two of them) have been manual, i learned to drive on stick. I dont even think about it anymore, i dont "think" about shifting, my brain just automatically does it. The only time it sucks is in EXTREME traffic, where its constant stop and go, other than that i dont notice it.
its kind of a shame that they're eventually going to be phased out, its gonna be a "lost art"

Word. I can't stand driving an auto car. I feel like I have no control over whats going on.

All 5 of my cars have been manual so I vote manual all the way. It really depends on the car for me though and not really whether it's stanced or not. If it's an M, it has to be manual regardless of it being stanced imo. If I'm cruising a VIP or something like that, than I'd want an auto. My truck was 5 speed, and as much as I loved it being manual for offroading and hillclimbing etc., it was mostly a slow commuter truck and I wished it was auto.
I have yet to experience an auto DD. I'm not sure if I'd love it or grow bored of it really quick.
