Big thanks to Webb for his mad skills in helping me build a custom wood rack for my roof bars. We got all the holes drilled last night and the ends sanded down and rounded off a bit. The top of the wood still needs to be sanded and then a coat of stain and sealer will go on. I am doing a light brown color for the stain. I'd like it to look close to the color of my tan leather/burberry interior. Hopefully it will be done here soon!

A few pictures from a quick mock up. It was getting too cold in that garage.

Looks good, maybe paint the crossbars black? They do stick out a bit now, with them being silver like that.

I like the aluminum and the wood. It's old school meets new school and pretty old school euro like they used to have on the old bugs. Plus the aluminum matches the color of my wheels.

on the cross bar, how much of a space is there between each drilled hole?

4 1/4 or so, the front bar is slightly longer than the rear, I guess to compensate for the irregularity in the roof.

Webb I didn't even know you had my wood stained. I can't wait to see it. I hit a tire from a semi truck on the interstate Thursday and it busted my 4 motion lip and I lost 2 of my lower grill inserts. I am going to have to go back to a regular OEM lip and I've found some grill inserts.
