  • Tire question, Falken 452 or 512?

Don't know if this is the right section, I could have sworn we had a wheels and tires tech section but who knows. Anyway, I have a 10" wide rear that I have been running a 245/35 tire on, but I want more clearance. I had some 225/40 hankook vents V12s lying around, so I tried putting them on, but I haven't been able to get one of them to hold air. I've heard they don't stretch that well, so I'm assuming that's why the one is leaking. I know Falken is better, but I wanted to ask you guys with experience which of these Falken tires (452 or 512) is better for what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for any help and advice!

512s are cheaper, and in my experience aren't a bad tire at all. I'd get those.

BTW your car is blowing up on tumblr.

512's are for stretch...flimsy sidewall, they wear fast and have tons of road noise. not to mention not a lick of grip

452's are double the price and is a pretty decent tire.

that said i rather buy 2 sets if 512 and beat them to shit before i buy 452's.

Based on what you and JC said, I think I'll go with 512s. And I don't have a tumblr nor do I ever go on it so that's interesting lol

sounds good, I don't care about grip or road noise with these wheels so as long as they'll stretch and hold air lol I'm tired of my rear being monster truck.

I know this isn't in your choices, but I would honestly go with the 912's. Same price as the 512's for a better tire in my opinion.

Better tire in what way? I just want to make sure they'll stretch well enough to do the 225/40. Grip, noise, life etc comes after that.

this is correct but dont stretch like a 512.

IMO a 225 on a 10"...the 512 will look better because its stretching characteristics than a 912 but the 912 is a better tire in every performance category. a 512 id about 5-7 mm thinner than its size so a 225 is like 217 to 220 mm, the 912 is a true 225.

I have a baby stretch so I didn't do much research on which tire stretches better. As far as performance the reviews I read all said 912s were the better choice.

                    I'm running a 205/40 on an 8 inch wheel.
