UPDATE

So I rang today, a different TMU officer answered the phone, and yet again, the constable who came to my door was not available.

I asked if there was anything I needed to know, and he said if it was urgent, he would have information for me.

Just incase, Jessica is in hiding for a week :shifty

So I got a call today.

Apparently someone rang the hoon hotline and said my car looked unroadworthy. Reasons were "Big tires, big wheels, wheels were on a big angle" etc. I asked if I was seen actually doing anything silly, apparently I was just driving.

He asked to come back to my house to look at the car, Which I replied " What for? A week before you turned up at my door it was defected. Dont you check things like that before coming to peoples houses?"

"No."

I asked what an unroadworthy car has to do with "hooning" and the hoon hotline.... No answer. as long as I am getting a roadworthy to clear the defect there is no issue.

Taxpayers money being put to good use right there.

So now every time I see an unmarked cop car, Im writing down the rego and location/time, and calling the hoon hotline, because I can.

Be careful out there guys, nothings sacred anymore. I am 85% sure Im not coming back from the USA. Laws and their enforcers here are a fucking joke.

Honestly fuck the invention of hoon lines etc. Any fag can ring up and complain about any car no matter what condition it's in or what you're doing in it, then you're on the database as a hoon. Just as bad as the boy racer laws in nz. Unmarked cop car idea is good

Amen to that oxer!

And the worst point is, there is NOTHING unroadworthy about the cars that we drive.
Just because of some traffic commision regulations (eg trainline angles, car park entries ect ect) they think they can take us off the road...

And the worst part... The hoon laws (which somehow effect us???) are getting stricter!!

Somehow i dont see a end to this madness anytime soon..

But imma continue to break laws, weither they like it or no, and i know all you guys are going to do the same.

Because this isnt just a style... Its a LIFEstyle, its a passion...

Keep it low....

the word "hooning: doesn't even refer to a certain set of behaviours anymore...the image conjured up is burnouts down a main road and killing passengers when hitting trees. its become a BUZZ WORD for making money and depicting an unrealistic reflection of the modified car scene.

Always contemplated what would happen if we just dobbed in cops cars to the hotline. I reckon we need to get a movement going where everyone dobs in undercover cop cars and just random cars who cut us off/can't drive/don't indicate ect. If driving a modified car is HOONING, then so too should it include people on the road who can't drive safely.

SW Australia group effort? lets dob in all bad drivers and unmarked cars to the hotline?

Consider it done lads, I'll create a group tonight and post link here so we can spread it like AIDS.

We can all relate to how angry it makes us getting pulled over RANDOMLY because our cars attract attention, only to be cut off and nearly hit by shit C**T drivers on the daily.

Funny thing is, after posting my comment yesterday I drove home after work and on the way was nearly cleaned up by someone running a red light just near my house. It happens daily and NO ONE ever reports these imbiciles, yet someone like Ox, just rolling down the road in a stanced out beast gets a call from TMU saying he's been reported as a hoon? Might as well start racially profiling while we're at it too. Classifying people based on stereotype and generalisation is a very, very grey line to cross.

Ideas for group name? Thinking - Report bad drivers to the Hoon Hotline - 1800 333 000

LOL. Just went to Vic Police website to check phone number and the classification for calling is as follows:

"Dob-in drivers who engage in street racing, burn outs, fish tailing and other dangerous hoon activity"

ROLL HARD = DANGEROUS HOON ACTIVITY

Laws here are fkn stupid fair enough if your hooning but just diving around and they go through to the effort of paying you a visit that's fkn in the head.

Worst thing is.. nothing is going to be done about it, and the laws will get more and more fucked up and you know what? There's nothing me, you or anyone can do about it.

Here's my 3rd defect, 1 week apart from the 2nd one.

Also reason why he prob didn't check if your car was previously defected is because they can't check.

A mate of mine got pulled over 2 days after he got defected, he decided to lie and say he was still defected. The cop ask "do you have the paperwork on you" he said no, then the coppa goes "well i'll defect you again just incase" WTF is that shit? lol

I rekon what the cops need to implement is just everyone walking everywhere, except them and TT /ACA viewers, as they are the model society should be based on.
what a joke, I've nearly been run into more times from overall shit driving than a car that is low!
obviously low cars and aftermarket wheels are really whats wrong with society though, don't need to worry about other insignificant crimes like shootings, drugs, bashings etc etc..

100% with you on that man.

It is absolutely fucked.

the victorian police have done sweet fuck all when I've really needed their help or have raised an issue, but I've been pulled over heaps and in all cases, when I've just been driving. why target a stereotype?! yes, we drive low cars, does that make us "hoons'' or ''criminals''? no, it doesnt. lock up rapists and dudes who cause fights in the city on the weekend, stop wasting our time.

why do they devote so much time to defecting cars which don't even do shit. when was the last time you heard a modified car causing an accident? i see more accidents due to incompent drivers.

police should target real criminals.

this is fucked. i really believe time has come to do something about it. no shit, perhaps EVERY one should just start rolling harder than ever, and when we cop a defect dont bother clearing it, just keep going. i think open defiance or group defiance of the law is the only option...

Absolutley agree with what Lukes said. Cops or Vic police are just hypocritical paper pushes who unfairly target modified rides just cause where easy to spot and it make them 'look' like there bettering the community to get us 'hoons' of the road while really the fuckers are just revenue making, not doing there jobs and commercializing this incorrect definition of hooning when 90% of the ppl ive met in our community do the correct thing. I ve seen more taxi drivers and ppl our parents age cut off, run reds and cause accidents!!

The whole Hoon thing make my blood boil.

My Dad has been working for the past 2 years with local council and his car club PIARC to give something back to the car community. He says fair enough driving aorund doing skids is probably not the best thing to do but where are the places to do it???

They give drug users safe injecting rooms where do car people get?

We have the following car places:

- Philip Island
- Sandown
- Winton
- Heathcote
- Calder
- DECA
- Huanted hills
- Rob Roy
- Plus a few dirt circuits.

To compete at any of these venues you need to get there, pay an entry fee, and for most have some form or CAMS, AASA or ANDRA license. To most blokes this is too much $$$ ot too much effort, you can juts drive 15mins and hit up a local industrial estate. The average entry fee to these places is around $150+ and you will also need a track worthy car which im sure your average commodore or ke70 with a welded diff wont pass.

Not everyone is as lucky as me to have a father who is a racing instructor and iv driven on tracks since I was 14 years old.

The government/Police/do-gooders want "hoons" off the street how about giving there some where to go.

^do it.

and great find on that article Vyet.

It's funny how the majority of cars picked up by cops for impound are commodores and generally old rust buckets and also p plater's parents cars. whats the bet we see an impound lot full of built jap cars? unlikely.

problem is there is a HUGE group of young people who like the HOON tag and like to rebel. I'm all for these idiots to get their cars taken, but people trying to work within the law to do the right thing and get dicked in the process.....not cool.

in regards to the topic of this thread - I think going to the US to live would be perfect for you Ox, couldn't see a better future for you anywhere but there, you'll love it. go for it dude :) fuck melbourne. I''ll be gone from here in the next few months anyway.

its small number of knobs that rebel n do illegal stuff on the streets that gives the modifying scene a bad rep that n the cops just want to make money.. all bout the money. bloody revenue making!

best piece of advice I can give is to try n get pulled over on the eastern freeway in peak hour. when the TMU car signals to pull over, head left towards the bus lane. once you're there, headcheck and perfectly co-ordinate for the bus to collide with the cop car in the far left bus lane.

so far - 100% success rate.

If you can't beat em - TROLL EM.

I'm down for organizing a rally against this shit. The laws are screwed in Australia. I've been pulled over more times that most of you have had hot dinners. I was pulled over twice by 2 different police cars with 250m once...and defected for no water in my washer bottle...WTF. The first cop loved my car and he said it was nice and low! the next cop was a fagget. this was 2am btw and I was doing 60 in a 60...

I was driving through and intersection yesterday and the lights were out. There were police directing traffic and one officer spots me, points and yells out "Raise your car you bloody idiot" seriously...I wasn't speeding or riding up some guys arse just cruising along low and slow. Its crap.

I'm thinking a Friday night (nice and busy!) I would like to make it invite only as we don't want tool bag dickheads there. I'll message some people because I know this shit is just getting ridiculous!

My mate Matt told me that he was driving around in the UK his golf. He got stuck on a speed bump...a cop was driving past and he asked for help and they just called him an idiot for having such a low car and told him to fix it himself! Wish cops did that here!

living in rural vic ftw. ive been at my current stance for about a month now, and everytime i see a cop car they dont even look at me twice. lol

im also considering doing what oxer is doing, move to the US ( just somewhere where it doesnt snow at all) in a few years when i finish my apprenticeship.

i also know of a guy around my area, cant remember if he doesnt have his licence or his car is unregistered but with plates on it, but he continues driving and whenever he gets caught he just goes to caught, pays the fine and keeps driving. lol

I actually think this problem will never be resolved :( sigh..... As population rises massively in Victoria each year, the roadtoll therefor also rises, But every one see's the road death toll numbers and doesn't think about %'s etc, therefor people must see some sort of 'action' by the police to 'solve' the problem to make the government look good to the general public. 'Hoon' laws are their magic word to save the general public from us crazy killers out there. The cops then take advantage of these very shit laws to take down anyone in a modified car. Modified car = Hoon, to the police, the general public, due mostly to the media.....

Having a mass blockade of the street would def attract idiots and it would no doubt turn nasty pretty quickly and would almost guaranteed make us car enthusiasts look even worse... Among the many law abiding car people out there, the media will always focus on the most confronting story, which is the 'killer hoon' story, therefor the good guys of the scene get no voice and therefor no notice from anyone.....

Sooooo so shit no matter how you look at it.....

Don't worry guys you don't have to have slammed car to get pulled over. I got pulled over in kilsyth south because of the jdmst sticker i had on my car. Legit the copper said because of the stickers i would most likely be hooning and looked in my wheel wells for rubber and check edover my car. I mean come on seriously.

I've driven around for years slammed & loud as fk, never had a problem until now things just got alot worse.

When you call the hoon hotline I think you need to leave your details behind as well like name address and number.

In America there is no defects, well there is but almost noone gets defected. They can do anything to their cars pretty much as long as they don't street race and be an actual hoon like do burnouts etc. Well this is Florida anyway, most other states are the same if not similar but I know Floridia is like that.

There's been heaps of cases of car enthusiast like us fighting the media, trying to get their attention and emailing and writing to them. If they're lucky they will get a response but it wont be a civilized one, it will be a complete smart ass one. I remember reading a thead on a forum back afew years or months ago I can't remember what forum. Basically someone wrote to todaytonight to try and get coverage on the REAL car scene, however they replied and pretty much told him that his a fuckhead hoon and get fucked.

Funny enough this morning on the way to work, there's a main section where cars have to go through to get to the city from my side, Ballarat Road for people who know. It's the inside road coming from St. Albans road near harvey Norman.. Well basically the sydenham trains are not running for 2 weeks so the left lane is a bus lane and the right lane is for cars so there's only 1 lane for peak hour.. Anyway this morning a car decides to break down right there causing massive delays.. The cop shop is litterally 1 minute away it's accross the road yet noone came to help leaving a massive delay. After I finally got to the front of the line I look to my left just 20M down the road the cops too busy giving someone a fine instead of helping clearing the traffic..... unfknbelieveable!

We will try our best to keep the Australian Stancworks scene alive :) fuckin annoying defect king cops.

Like Vyets said, I had no troubles for at least 2-3 years, running loud, low, no interior, racing seats etc etc in the civic without any trouble from the cops, A few close calls with booze bus/defect stations (I never drink n drive for the record, more worried about defects)

But yeh, in the end busted by a letter in the mail from a supposed passing police car seeing my car in an un-roadworthy condition (I wasn't the only one on the day that got the same letter either...) asking for me to bring my car to the police station to be looked at by the police + VIC roads + EPA representatives.... Or they cancel my rego.... I cancelled it myself and told them to suck it.

Not that my car is as crazy low as some of your. But I live out sticks and iv had the cops just look at the car, check the tyre tread depth etc, thats it. being in a small town i think they know i dont 'hoon', so they dont stress about it, as soon as I leave town to head to melbourne, bang, defected.

But then again, in the bottle shop i work in my spare time, we have people always stealing, starting fights, even had some lady trash the store during mid day, they dont come.

I've reported a hoon to the local police (p plater over taking me on double lines on a blind corner), first time i didnt stress about it, but then saw him doing the same thing a different day in peak traffic around 3 cars. So i thought it was worth while leaving a report.
My mate happened to be doing work experience there the same day and saw me report it, followed by the copper walking behind the one way glass after i left, tear out the report and throw in it in the bin... great example!

+1 for this.. Well, for all the things that have been said in this thread..

Im a p-plate driver.. I live in wodonga and south west victoria, Now south-west victoria (country cops) couldve give a crap about how low, loud my car is... *cop* Plenty of tread on your tyres *me* [x] check... *cop* Plenty of brake pads *me* [x] check. *cop* Right, on your way... Easy.. My car is ROADWORTHY....

Wodonga on the other hand, has to have THE MOST police presence *per person* that i have EVER see... During a weekly commute to the shops (about 7km there and back), on a good day i will see 3 police cars.. Usually 2 undercover cars and 1 hwy patrol... So now i run to the freakin shops because i know its a matter of time until i get my 3rd defect...

Why should we live in a society where we are scared to drive our cars?
Thats just wrong.. Because not only are cars a means of travel, they are a lifestyle..
I (all of us no doubt) just love driving.. Not "hooning".. Just, driving.

But no matter what, Stanceworks Australia will fight through this, because there are too many of us that have a passion for this...

But thats just my 2c...

Just heard on the news that the news reader read like this:

"And some hoons have almost made an ambulance crash on the hwy carrying a mother giving birth, after throwing rocks from an overpass and hitting the front windscreen"

"Hoons" - The media needs to decide what the word hoons should be used for, not just throwing it around willy nilly....
