View Full Version : Stepped Lip vs. Flat Lip

Some people like flat and some like stepped. A lot of wheels these days are coming with the option of either. What do you prefer and lets see why. Lets see some wheels that are the same where one has stepped lip and one has a flat lip.
I personally think either can look good and it all depends on the wheel.

that wheels in the rear are stepped and polished, theres my evidence and my conclusion is so Optimus Prime can defeat them deceiving Decipticons! LOLLMAO

I'm a stepped lip fan myself. However, flat lips can look good too, all depends on the overall setup.

i currently have bbs with flat 3" lips, but am selling them and getting built kranson forged klassics with much larger stepped lips because they look so much more aggressive.

I cant exactly put my finger on why but I just prefer them over flats.

Definitely a stepped lip fan here. Huge flat lips look more like bling to me than style.

i'mma choose step 9/10 if i have a choice, but have no problem rockin flat if i don't. flats really shine in deeeeeep lip apps imo, while step looks killer from mild to medium to deep.

I like stepped lip but I get mad knowing I'm paying for a certain size wheel and getting the face of the next size down.
Actually selling my step lips right now. We'll see what's next.

Never thought about this; I like them both. So I guess it depends the application.
Seems to me, older cars look more natural with stepped whereas newer cars can pull flats off.

Stepped almost always. I do have two sets of wheels that are reverse lip, and they grow on me, but the lips are gloss black on both.

If the lip is really wide I prefer stepped. On narrower lipped wheels like the style 5's I think flat is equally awesome. What I liked when I rolled on RS-GT's is that the center is bigger on flat lipped wheels.

Both! depends largely on overall settup and sizing . I put having killer sizing and offset first before face/lip design , one thing i do know is that i **** convex faces on wheels.
edit: i have some wheels that have a combination of both!

Personally I think stepped lips look really nice in the 2-3" range, anything larger and it just seams odd to me.
I love super dished flat lips because the inner wheel looks small because of all the dish anyway, so making the center bigger causes it not to look as small...

Step lip by far 90% of the time, some, but very few wheels look better in full reverse. But steps make me hard...reverse does not hahaha
And a steplip rolling OMFGWTFBBQFTMFW
