My E36 sedan is pretty low (i think like 1-2 inches ground clearance at the lowest point)
and I have gone through 2 fuel filter brackets, and 3 different fuel filters... for some odd reason the 328i and I think M3 models of the E36 run a gigantic fuel filter... and its location is extremely vulnerable to getting scraped...
anyone got any tips as far as running a smaller fuel filter or relocating the fuel filter??

Fuel filters on the M50s are located in the left side of the engine block, you should check on that

this.
i had a 316i, that car had the filter under the body, near the frame rail.
also had a 323i, (m52) tho never changed filter, but i think it was also located at the frame rail.
and i have a 325i, (m50) has the filter on the block, under the intake mainfold.
had some m50 blocks (320i etc) also had filters on the blocks.
so i would recommend to, reloacte the filter.

This guy is pretty damn low. You guys need to get off the internet and actually drive your "lower" cars :stickoutt

thank you haha, i drive this baby every single day... always drive with my buddies in the car...
EDIT: my front coils are as low as they can go anyways... probably lower the rear a bit more to get rid of the current rake.

i didnt move mine, the factory metal plate that protects the fuel pressure regulator will also protect the fuel filter.
move it if it makes you feel better but its 100% unnecessary to do so.

Relocate the filter ... get a piece of copper piping or something, 2 clamps, put that in instead of filter, cut line elsewhere and stick it in ... doesn't really matter where it is as long as it's between the pump and fuel rail.
