  • Spring Rates on a 510

Soo im finally gonna go with coilovers but wanted some opinions on spring rates. my 510 is now at about 1-1.5" clearance, but plan on bringing it back down to 3/4-1/2" (Go low or go home.) so it would need to be pretty stiff. the car its self ways around 2100-2300lbs if that. i was thinking maybe 600lbs front, 900 rear? opinions would be great!!

              .
              Wrong forum bro ......

Haha .... .. it depends who you ask ...... .. Jeff had 350 for fronts .... .. .. . Troy didn't want to sell me 225's for a street car,, but I got them anyway ......

I have heard autocross guys running 350 springs in the front,,,, , never heard of 400's .... .. Troy said 180-200 for a "normal" street car,,,, I said fawk normal my ish is slammed ....

I have #225 front and rear coilovers ..... .. . and they are still kinda too soft ,,,, , , the tires were rubbing bad when cornering hard in the wagon (like 2 inches of sway/bump) ...... :that wouldn't really work for your car

Talk to Jeff (icehouse) ..... see what he thought about his 350 front springs ...... Duke should know about rear springs

haha it semed like a good forum due to every one riding low. i figured a miata or honda guy could let me know what there running. all weigh around the same. but ya ill have to ask jeff. do you think a spring rate double yours in the front would be good?

                  .
and cheap shocks don't like to be "over-sprung" ... .. .. they won't last very long......... Troy advised against Tocico's for #225 springs and talked me into $375 Koni yellow adjustable inserts

Honestly I could probably have built a custom A-arm set up for cheaper ....... .. then Dry sump my L18 like a BAWSE ......

                    No.... No.....

most guys complain 350 is too stiff for the front ..... . .I think Jeff even said it was too stiff ..... .. you want a 300-350 max

nooo sir. sectioned 280zx front struts with lowering springs, lowered perches, and short stroke kby vw rabbit inserts. rears have shorter camaro shocks and stiffer d50 springs.. just not stiff enough lol no oem here..
