  • help with e36

    anyone in or near nj who knows about bimmers wanna come help me out with my e36 with swaping out my rear differential and ignition switch. i just dont wanna pay to tow it to a mechanic and then pay to fix it on top of that, it would be very much appreciated and i will pay

    Not close enough to give a hand but if you have any questions, shoot me an email, I have swapped the diff in E36 many times.

    From memory
    -unbolt driveshaft (4 bolts)
    -unbolt torx bolts E12 on each side of driveaxle (6 or 8 I believe) careful not to strip or they are a bitch
    -unclip speed sensor
    -3 18mm bolts holding the diff to the rear subframe and diff mount

    They say you need to remove the exhaust but I usually get away with just disconnecting the muffler mounts and lowering it a few inches, gives enough room to remove it.
