Fixed the bearings of the cardan line, now no more squeaking but found one of my rear tires has a tear in the inner sidewall... still holds air but I don't want to drive on it longer than necessary. Bought four used 225/35/17s with 5-6mm thread left and 4 years old for the time being because I got them for the price as one new one... and on my car only the inner edge will be worn so it's not as if the thread matters anyways :rofl

I finally got round to changing my sump yesterday, what a ball ache that was. I had to take off the manifold to get to the sump, had to take the subframe off to get to the manifold, had to take the steering arms to get to the subframe. But it turned out my oil pickup took most of the damage :(

That was snorkeling. Diving was hard. I struggled to start, only did an intro course so 20mins at 8m down.

Once I got it, was fucking awesome. Definitely if I go anywhere again I'm doing my PADI open water course.

Then after fitting tried the easy task of the fuel filter and snapped the housing. 88£ from Peugeot. Thankfully scrap yard had one in for £3. Jobs a gooden. Nice to have a running car again, only needed it to go collect the BMW though lol

Think my transmission might need some attention soon... looked slick with oil a week ago when I redid the bearings on the cardan shaft, wiped it dry. Was oily again when I did a motor oilchange just now, but I haven't driven the car since last week apart from a 1 km test drive. Hope it lasts until after the trip, haha.

All M52's are renowned for coolant issues with regards hoses, water pumps, radiators and head gaskets. Many change these parts anyway as a precaution so they are safe in the future. Mechanically they're amazing engines if you look after them.

Only the coolant system is known for trouble on these - apart from that they're good to go for a million miles and more!

If I didn't need the car as my daily, it'd be a whole 'nother story.

That shit just gets annoying after a few years. I want something that I can bash around the backroads and occasionally the Nürburgring without worries while still looking good.

Well, DHL is actually pretty good concerning parcel service, but the smaller ones are terrible sometimes... tires were shipped using Hermes and Hermes really is so-so, sometimes takes quite long and can't guarantee for proper handling because Hermes doesn't really have any of their own drivers and cars, they just sub-contract to privateers with their own cars... the one in my area is pretty decent, usually dependable (and looks very funny to see him deliver parcels in a small Skoda Fabia wagon :rofl ) but others one... not so much.

How many miles are you getting with the rears?

My rear's would have been good for another ~2000 or so, but they were damaged.

Had them on for 9000km / 5600 miles now, front tires were completely bald on the inside, rest of the tire still had like 5mm but I didn't want to rotate them because it would've been a ticket for sure if a cop had seen the bald side.

Rears were almost bald on the inside, rest was down to ~3mm. But the inside of the rear tires was bubbles, heavily on the passenger side, just a bit on the drivers side. And there was a small tear in the passenger side tire.

The reason I'm asking is, my friend is barely getting 1000miles out of his rears. I think because he has the maximum amount of natural camber which is causing a lot of toe in and it's just wearing them down really quickly!

I've got -4° negative in front and about -3.5° negative in the rear and my toe isn't set properly and needs to be adjusted (one side more toe than the other and so on).

The heavily tucked look works only on certain cars like very old 60ies and 70ies Mercedes or 50ies Customs from the US and some very smooth modern day japanese VIP cruisers. Does not work well with most relatively modern cars at all.

On a side note, I bought a second hand leica digilux 2 off ebay the other day. Sold as working but came with a broken sensor :(
I'm a bit stuck on what I should do with it. Leica will replace the sensor free of charge for me but that will take a while to do. The camera is good and it came with a proper leica flash as well and it's only had light use so I would like to keep it, but i'm pissed off that I now have to wait around.
Alternatively I could try and get a refund and send it back but then I might have to wait another month anyway before another one comes up for an ok price. :shifty
