Hey Sumpcracker - I run a 41 year old car all year round, and tidy her up in spring. If you wash your car regularly in a salty atmosphere you can push salt into cracks it otherwise wouldn't have gotten in. Sounds weird, but I found not washing her helped preserve important parts.

We can't get the moggy in the garage now until the bloody rover is done, and currently the rover /has no engine/ and is immovable until a) we sell it without, or b) we put another in.
We can't do the work on the side of the road because it requires a welder for the bodywork, and if I can afford the coilover kit before work on suspension begins, a welder for the coilover conversion. We need a clean place to spray it, a clean place to scrub the engine clean, a place where some little shit isn't going to come along and nick a wheel the second it comes off the car.

..can we tell I'm frustrated?
Now I need a new clutch thrust bearing too.
