Noise from E30: What is that!?

I'm trying to figure out what it is that is giving these rally style cars that noise. Obviously it's a group of things, but I'm wondering what type of exhaust they would be running? Sounds so good!

Carbon airbox on modified S14's. It's a combo of the ITB's and the free flow and large volume of the airbox that makes most of the noise. The cams help too.

I’m not 100% sure but the guy on s14.net get a similar sound by running a single 2 1/2 in exhaust with high flow cat, or a single resonator.

Thats mostly inducion noise you're hearing, those are highly tuned race engines so not the easiet noise to try an replicate.

Its all about the turbo if fitted and air intake kit also a sports exhaust will give you the sound your after ive got a Scorpion Le Mans twin exhaust on my e30 which gives it a sweet burbling blip sound :D
