Interesting. I've never seen anyone do anything with Saturns. Even the people who buy the Redline Ion's around here keep them stock. I guess the Sky would be the exception.
Looking forward to more progress.

Why not get wider wheels? I doubt it would cost much more since diamond racing specializes in any custom size and offset. Why not dumped on 16x10s or 17x9s or something along those lines? I'd be interested to see that.
saturnstance
10-01-2009, 06:52 PM
im sure 16x10's wouldn't look bad. i have to go home and measure and do alot of figuring to try and get an idea i guess

No, slammed on 15x8/9 with no spacers would be sick. Well as sick as a Saturn can get.
SeanDub
10-01-2009, 07:20 PM
He's not slamming it.
Get wide 16's
saturnstance
10-01-2009, 07:36 PM
Wide 16's is probably where i'll end up. and yes, im not slamming it.

So, i've made the decision that most of you advised me to, ill roll around on the springs for now and just save save save for coilovers. theres two companies that make them for saturns, one is priced at $995 the other close to $2000 haha. maybe ill get the wheels before, or at the same time.
saturnstance
10-02-2009, 09:09 PM
Alright, i've decided im going to skip the springs, just sell them for what i bought them for, and just save my ass off and do it right the first time.

mhmm. i'll be picking up the same bumper but with the factory fog lights.

10-03-2009, 09:28 PM
Is there a place that i could find a possible list of cars with a bolt pattern of 4x100? i looked through Google and it was useless.I know most Civis are, i believe miatas too.

saturnstance
10-03-2009, 11:57 PM
haha ok. since i've decided im gonna do this right the first time..im just planning ahead and trying to find something off the wall wheel wise, if i can't settle it'll be the diamond racing steelies.

10-05-2009, 04:35 PM
While I do love Ronal Turbo's and Borbet A's, I'm not really sure they'll work too well with the lines on the Saturn. Could be completely wrong though.

Diamond Racing wheels look really good, I personally love the way they look with the polished lips. However, I've heard of lots of problems with them going out of true/warping pretty easily, since they aren't totally meant for day to day driving on roads w/ potholes, dips, etc. My buddy has a set on his rabbit, and they warped pretty quick. :( He still runs them cause they look pretty good.
http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/ff354/8vGLI4life/eugenesrabbit.jpg
I really think Ronal Turbos could look cool on your car if you ran some spacers! I had a set on my mk2 GLI, and I loved them. I ran them with the Federal 165/45 tires and they looked pretty rad.

Hope this helps a bit, and GL with your wheel search. Looking forward to seeing updates on this project :cool

shit, seandub, totally missed your post. in all honesty, my price range originally was not to go over $500. i then realized that was kind of unreasonable. so i would like not to go over $1,000

in my ever quest to find a set of wheels. i came across these..i dont think they're knock offs of anything. i could be wrong.

With a budget of $1k or less, get the DR steelies, or hunt on craigslist. Nice wheels are more than that.

saturnstance

oh i know. haha if i have to rock stockers with spacers til i save up for wheels so be it. i keep reading how bad the steelies are with bends and warp
Morbid
10-11-2009, 10:04 PM
However, I've heard of lots of problems with them going out of true/warping pretty easily,
I think they're designed for tracks, so they are pretty soft, but I've heard they make them for street use too if you ask for it. You just tell them you want to use them on public roads or whatever, but then they have to make them. I think it takes like a few weeks for them to finish the set and I'm not sure if it costs extra.
I read about it on clubnico like 2 years ago so I would look into it some as I probably don't remember some of it correctly or something might have changed since then.

10-11-2009, 10:16 PM
And dude I just looked it up and your car has a 4x100 lug pattern, right? Check VW Vortex, they have a section for 4x100 wheels F/S in the vw classifieds and audi classifieds. Also check e30 forums. You shouldn't have much trouble finding nice wheels for a good price. The only thing you might have trouble with is figuring out the right width's and offsets to have a nice fitment, since I don't think there is much info on saturns as far as how fat of a wheel or how low of an offset wheel you can fit.
Stephen
10-11-2009, 10:18 PM
Buy my type As lol, theyre well under a grand.

10-11-2009, 10:33 PM

saturnstance
10-24-2009, 10:11 PM

No, adapters are fine, lots of people run them, especially 4x100 to 5x130 (Porsche bolt pattern).
Only think I would be wary of, would be putting two adapters over each other, (i.e. to get a 4x100 to take on BMW wheels with 5x120 -> you would have to run 4x100 to 5x100 and then 5x100 to 5x120 on top of that because the 5x120 and 4x100 patterns would overlap). I wouldn't do that.

So, i don't post much because working 3 jobs and being a full time student takes up most of my time..
Need a little help before i order everything.
The coilovers, agility, that im going with have spring rates of 600(rear)/800(front). i can get custom spring rates when i order, should i? will it benefit me for going lower? if so, what springs rated are best?
