The "before picture", cheap-ass 16" wheels, no lowering, etc. Just a plain 1988 730i BMW nothing to see really. I just like the e32 body style so I bought one just for the hell of it. The sides are bit denty but I was going to paint it anyway so I didn't mind. It's not particularily rusted so I actually don't have to bust my ass doing prep work either, just bang up the dents and grind off the multiple layers of old paint.

Interior shot. Gray fabric, sagging and dirty.

Zimmerman e34 M5 brakes with red stuff pads.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/herrakani/seiska/bemmi06.jpg

Some new parts to it.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/herrakani/seiska/bemmi16.jpg

Some stereo installs, just a couple of 2-ways and an soundstream amp.

Then I took the stainless lips off the wheels and sanded and painted the 20" rims.

Meanwhile I drove around looking like this.

You can easily see the front end has been painted to a different color asi it has been repaired in some point. I got 60/40 german lowering kit and 17x 8,5 and 10 RH X-Rad wheels at the time.

Then I installed KW v2 Coilovers and the 20" to it. Had to hammer the rear arches a bit though to run it lower. I got the rears adjusted to the max so I'll have to get new springs done.

Even had a brief meeting with the local law enforcement.

Next I'll paint it and lower it some more and fab up some horsepower from the engine.

I'm thinking about flat copperish or gunmetal.

I could roll 3-piece Ac Schnitser in 18" or 19" but for now I'll run the 20's for a while.

Did I mention I'm doing stuff for the interior also. I'll post progress pics as I do some.

I've been busy lately doing:

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/herrakani/seiska/bemmi35.jpg

and

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/herrakani/seiska/bemmi28-1.jpg

I fabricated some tube headers and an exhaust tube from prebent tubes. Real PITA job, never going to do that again. Then I installed bigger fuel nozzles and next I'll mod the original motronic DTA to suit the new nozzles. I got a LC-1 wideband o2 to monitor the exhaust. Profit??

The front secondary tube needs to be modified a bit still, then I can start test driving the different softwares. I am also getting rid of the Air Flow Flapper.

I was spray painting the valve cover flat black as the autumn leaves were flying everywhere so I thought wth. I bet you can't find similar quite easily. I'll paint the air cleaner likewise after I have prepped it. Not much of an update, but it's been quite slow around here. I'm old fat and slow as some of you might know.

Damn, definitely not enough done up e32's. This one is turning out to be promising. I love how hardcore you went with the performance stuff, fabbing up your own parts is legit.

I ran intoa bit of a problem, broke a pair of exhaust studs so I need to get them machined off and rethread before I can continue the build.

Just dropped the cylinder head to the local shop. He promised it's ready today. That'll be cool.

I think I'll portmatch the intake and exhaust and maybe get a dbilas or a custom grind cam now b/c I'm fiddling about anyway.

I portmatched the intake and exhaust a bit. Then I smoothed the ports a bit as I was about it.
Next I'll clean and paint the intake and cylinderhead, then install.
I also bought an New Beetle MAF instead of the BMW AFM. Not going to be a straightforward installation but ftw.

I'm hoping I get the cylinder head installed today or tomorrow.

They are KW V2 setup for a e34-M5, done to a normal e32 strut. I installed M5 brakes and hubs to it though. Most e32 and e34 parts are interchangeable in some extent. I'll install a complete M5 rear subframe with custom made urethane bushings and 3.93 LSD during the winter. It is the same as the e32 version, but I have one laying about.

Cheapest coils to fit an e32 would be the FK ones made to the heavier e34:s, 540 or 525tds. Also the Powerflex urethane bushings and HD tie rods and control arms from Meyle are e34 versions. Strangely though, I had two left uppers instead of left and right. Supposedly to fit my two left hands. :)

I'll have to wait until monday in order to get me a bunch of aluminium o-rings for the oil bar banjo bolts and shorter exhaust bolts (stainless insix versions)
Tomorrow I'll do some of the wiring.

Sry, it is winter up here so I can't take pictures for a while. We get about 4-6 hours of random light during the days and I'm pretty much at work during that time. I have done umpteen different chips and testdriving them. I haven't got the idle to set around 14 a/fr so I can't go to the tech inspection and get my license plates back. Someone put 3 of my project pictures on the December issue of Performance BMW stanceworks feature. That was cool.

This is how the engine looks for now. The aircleaner doesn't fit I'll have to redo some of the ducting rubbers, I'll run stock airbox, also painted in autumn leaves.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/herrakani/seiska/bemmi52.jpg

This is how it stands now. I did the rear passenger side fender this other day, it had a dent and I rolled the fXXk out of it with Exorcist's fender roller. Now I don't scrape. Painted in this space age sanding primer which should be watertight and rustproof.

Sry, nothing to be bragging and photographing about. I fiddled with some chips this week but we got -20 degrees so I'm not doing any work outside. Only real issue I got is the maf-to-aircleaner-tubes, the new maf is about 2" shorter than the original so I'll need to modify the connecting rubbers to fit the OG airbox. I'm not into the boy-racer-green-cone-and-blue-silicone-tubing craze.

Btw, why is that cop trying to open your hood?

herrakani
01-02-2010, 07:14 AM
Yes a five speed manual e32 BMW. I have a spare M5 gearbox to be put with a competition clutch setup to this one or to my fiver.
We got this goverment issued yearly tech inspection thing going on in Finland, the cop is taking my license plates off failing to go to my yearly inspection. Didn't get fined though.

Sorry no updates whatsoever, I've been recently up to this:

You should paint your e32 in delphin metalic , probably looks much better then gunmetal on e32 :)
