View Full Version : Stanced Trucks?

Never seem to see any trucks with the wheels perfectly setup, I realize most want to tuck and get real low, but are there any out there? I think a slammed colorado with a set up 18 inch wheels slightly poked would be amazing. Any thoughts on this?

I too love the idea of a stretched and poked truck, which is why I picked up my Hardbody. Unfortunately haven't had much time to get anything done on it.

My old Hardbody. Bought it stock, only had it a couple months when a 95 Pathfinder got traded in at work. Fully loaded, Heated leather, 4X4 etc. I live in the country and it made more sense. Sadly I sold my pickup to some old guy, now it's a rotted out piece of crap.
I now have a Hilux, which I have a few sets of low offset 15x8 wheels for that would have look awesome on the pickup, including "JDM Deer Fields"

I'm considering putting some poke on the old Datsun, if I can find my old 6 lug Mexi-wheels. Or I'm just going to sell it and get a car, never had one of those.
Edit: These jewels are the wheels I have. I knew I didn't throw them away for a reason, hahaha.

i really don't see how you can compare the caddy to all the other trucks. Its a car. FWD and unibody. Albeit the unibody looks dope. But its still FWD and not the same as slamming a toyota or nissan blah blah. just my opinion tho. I've always loved caddys just don't really consider them trucks aside from the fact that it has a bed. El Camino would be closer to a truck in the true sense of the word.

the thing with MOST slammed trucks is they want to sit flat on the ground, which makes it impossible for the wheels to sit "flush" (especially due to solid axle rears)... some cool looking trucks in this thread and especially love slammed minis! keep em coming!

It burnt more oil than gas, and the speedo would bounce off of the 80mph "limit". It was a good truck. Yours look SO dope. Love the rims. Nothing needs to be changed on this truck. Its great

Epic fail truck. One roofrack on it? That's blatantly just following the roofrack fad. I'm all about stancing trucks, but please don't do that. Roof racks on trucks are iffy period. So long as you're doing something with them, you wont look like a tool for ignoring your bed. I'm doing a full Yakima system on my roof, but I'm carrying a 17 foot canoe.

I would really like to see your build. I have an 1987 F150 XLT Lairat side step with a 351 cleveland i rebuild and swapped in myself (with my step dad). Its no where near stanced though and is currently being built into a 1000+ hp drag truck.

Nice! Welcome to S/W man. About time more trucks starting stancing instead of just burrying them in the ground with bags. I like those wheels. With a set of spacers and the right tires they would look awesome stanced since they have zero lip. I almost bought an identical pair but they were for a GT500. Those are 5x5.5 bolt pattern arent they?

@Snazzy, X-Runners are badass if you add in an S/C or Turbo. Looks good as far as looks go, though. I'd kill that fender gap and camber in, though.

Thanks yeah I built it earlier this year but it's gone now. A stanced hardbody was just one of those things that was boiling in the back of my mind for so long that I just had to get it out of my system lol. Having a truck bed to throw things in is AWESOME especially when the bed is like waste high hahah damn I miss that truck. My friend saw it last week at a random gas station and apparently it's beat to shit now:(
i saw it last night in toga. was talking to the guy who owns it now and he is a giant idiot. he has completely destroyed the truck. drags it everywhere. does burnouts and dounuts as much as possible. beats the living piss out of the truck. i honestly debated jumping in and running away with it just to save it from its horrible ending that it will reach soon enough. pretty sure the rear axel is just gonna fall out or its going to get into an accident. not sure which will happen first. honestly one of the saddest moments ive ever had to see that sight. oh and the wheels he has on it now...look like total shit.

I finally ditched the bags off my Mazda and picked up some smaller wheels/tires. I went from an 18x7.5 with a 225/40r18 and +45 offset to a 15x8.5 with a 205/50r15 with a -16 offset. Get the tires put on Tuesday, then I have to finish building my engine bay cage and coilover mounts on the front, and get a box for it, then it should be good to go.

I'd love to do a mild bag setup with some e-level type of controls. Not slammed to the frame, but enough of a well designed drop with control to (1) park down on the tires, (2) air up ever so slightly for ride clearance, and (3) back to slightly lower than stock for extra comfort clearance. Do all that and then put it on a nice set of 22" custom cut Rotiform/HRE/etc. Just a little bigger than my current 20" setup but still not so big that I can't stretch and poke a little for more flushness. Ah, a boy and his dream.

Needs more low, static.
silvrbreez
09-06-2011, 10:48 PM
Agreed, more low is desired.
Having owned a slammed Civic and C10 in the past, I'm a big fan of static done right. Unfortunately, options for static drops on these trucks are limited.
Cut springs up front isn't my preferred method and the available (non-custom) options for coilovers only give about a 1/2" or so. Some guys have gotten custom spindles built for these and have gotten about 2" up front from that option. I could flip the axle in the rear and then do blocks for more drop. So custom spindles, flip kit and blocks would give me about 2"-3" all around, or I could hold out for air and get that much drop and then some. I prefer static when it can be done right, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards for this truck.
Nice trucks all around by the way.

Yeah the front is always a bitch. I ordered custom front springs for my truck since 2" springs were all they sell in the aftermarket. You've gotta suck it up and either start cutting/fabbing or looking for companies that have done it before if you want to go static. Mine's got a 7/6 drop static and I can easily go 2" more in the front and 3" in the rear but I dont have time. Nothing wrong with driving low static. I dont bottom out, my ride is very comfortable, and I can still use it as a truck.
This is where my sits. Still a serious WIP.

I've got 3" drop beams, 3" springs and 2" smaller tires but still have wheel gap. Can't cut the spring either. Going to have to notch the frame for the beams and tierods, and move the upper spring perch up and reweld the bucket. I have -3• camber now and can get -4• with new eccentrics and -5• with another inch or two of suspension drop. I'm just leery of starting to hack and weld it.

Def picked the wrong platform to stance, but I'm making it work. Still looking for a B2200 side projector... -6" drop just by turning the torsion bars FTW.
shouldve gotten a b2200/ranger they look awesome when low/static and the fenders are pretty rounded/flared and are pretty commonly modded.
respect on dropping the f150 flareside they're pretty neat. ive had my eye on one but i once i get to the bed its where the problems start haha

Kaido get lower profile tires and then it'll be mint.
Ive still gotta get new wheels. Been doing major frame surgery, taking up all my time and money (and a head gasket blew) :P But I am stretching 215/60/15's on 15x10s in the front. They will be a smaller sidewall then my current ones buy 1.2"

well any tacoma static on here? or flushed?
There you go. There was also a properly slammed Tacoma in the new members thread.

You better fuckin believe for one of these trucks with ibeams and no bags it is very low, and will be scraping everywhere soon :D
So until you're notching your front frame 4" because you're bending tierods and only have 2" of suspension travel without bumpstops, kindly eat a dick.
then do the necessary work, smaller tires, remove the tie rods, shorten the struts, get shorter shocks etc etc.
i would post a picture of my car, to make you kindly eat dick, but this is for trucks.

Just ordered a fo-wood Grant steering wheel and some Junction Produce goodies for the inside. May take a slight VIP route, but that would require 18-19" wheels, which I dont want to do.

I'll probably stick with my original plan of 15x10's up front and 15x12's out back. 255's on the rear stretched should still have a wide aggressive stance.
Every time I try to buy custom wheels they get back-ordered or are not in stock. I didnt go with Diamond-Racing because Summit was cheaper for a set of 2x 15x10 4" BS, and 2x 15x12 5" BS

My rear 15x12's came in this morning, so I rushed out to the truck, lifted the rear and test-fit them on. After measuring their "poke" from the fender, I realized my passenger side is 1/4th" farther to that side. I put my current wheels back on and measured the distance from the rim to a level I placed against the fender in the rear. My spacing on the driver side is 2". My spacing on the passenger side is 1 3/4". Im assuming my flip kit caused this... :shifty
Debating now if I want to take the rear end apart and try to shift it over, or just put a 1/4" plate spacer behind the wheel... being I'm poking out about 1.5" from the fender, its going to be difficult to get the fitment right tucking a stretched tire when the axle is off center... not to mention its going to look stupid - so the rear is on hold for a while :( Still going to do the fronts.
I removed my spring perch spacer from the bottom of the spring and drove around for a day like that until I bent a tierod end. Notching the front with a friend, as well as trying to put on a new set of tie-rod ends upside down so it moves the tierod further away from the frame. Suuuuucks.

Plans-moar low on a static drop, and going with a "top secret" paint scheme, with a cargo net replacing the tailgate, losing the tonneau.
The paint looks great from far but FAR from good upclose, so its getting a 20$ paintjob in my driveway

Welcome to StanceWorks! I ordered it on Summitracing.com. That B2200 looks so badass, I'm jealous. Makes me mad the dude sold the one I was going to buy on CL before I could get off work to go buy it :shifty
Nice 5-0 too, whats done to it?

thanks man, the 5.0 is my absolute baby. First car i ever fully built, built my first engine and tranny on it. (well...planning new brakes around and coilovers and a stouter motor..but this phase is done for now)
306, flat tappet
long tubes, super 44s, 200 cell cat H pipe,
10.5 compression keith black pistons, gt40 heads, scorion RR, stealth intake
tokico adjustable shocks, H&R springs
2900 pounds, 280/340 at the wheels
3.73s, 26" tire,
84 NWC trans, nice 0.63 OD
OMP 360mm steering wheel,
black interior, no rear seats.
Amazing hiway crusier, did 6500 kms this summer driving it for work
slowly building a new roller motor for it, also a 306, but not sure if i want to use my KB pistons and do a nice AFR headed 11:1 N/A motor, or just redo the valveguides on my gt40s, hog em out and throw on a supercharger....
Plan for truck after i paint and stance it-build a cheap KA24-T for it, let r rip

Did he give up on bags and switch back coils? If so that is so badass. +1 for static!
Yes I did ditch the bags for some coils. At first it was hard to do, but my brother and I got carried away on bodydropping it and couldn't get the lift needed to clear the front wheels at all. So now with the smaller wheels, its getting set at 3" of ground clearance for the frame, and also 3" of clearance for the rockers. I went with that as its the same height as my Magnum and I have no problems getting around in that.

Sounds like the same route I took on my 302, bored to 306, but FR E-cam, FR timing, FR z-heads, bbk tb, new intake plenum from eldebrock, 20lb injectors, and all the normal stuff like distro, wires, etc (wanted to do a mustang or explorer swap for the intake but didnt want to redo my throttle cables and intake position)
Right now Im in the process of returning it to stock though. 9MPG fucking sucks, plus Im about to be too low to drive it fast.
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9936/screenshotlk.png
(Had to remove the front lip to get it up, and the back bumper scraped across the ground for 1/2' to get it on the flatbed, stupid overhang)
Being picked up for some frame/suspension work I cant do it home. If you can see under it my radius arms are 2" off the ground so Ive gotta have new brackets made to tuck them into the frame so I can go lower, theyre smashing into the ground like mad. Had to lift my front end up with huge rubber spacers to avoid hitting my tierods anymore which I bent to fuck (those are getting fixed, flipped and the frame above them notched for moar low as well) I wanted to do the work myself but I'm working 7 days a week and cant find the time.
Everybody laughs at my I **** speedbumps sticker since it looks like Im not that low... oh to the contrary due to this ancient farm-buggy suspension geometry. Ive left so many double white lines across them going through parkinglots.

dont think so, probably old american racing wheels, or a generic brand like that. Look like trailer tires haha, for older 1/2 ton chevs
