KW Shakedown – 2018

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since we found ourselves trackside at 2017’s KW Shakedown. Hosted by our friends at KW Suspension, the Shakedown event was born as a private day at the track for the KW circle of friends and family to enjoy some pressure-free track time to fine tune, diagnose, or just have fun on the Streets of Willow. Hosted on a Friday afternoon, it was the ultimate way to cap a week, and with so much fun had by all, KW made the only logical move… they did it again. Here’s our rundown last Friday’s afternoon of fun in the sun.

Streets of Willow is a favorite of many in SoCal: its relative proximity to LA versus its larger counterparts, its tight, technical nature, and the camaraderie and close-knit nature Streets of Willow events often offer make it the perfect place for a day of friends together on track. Many familiar faces returned from 2017’s event, some in new cars, and others present to show off and fine tune upgrades in their tried and true machines. As was the mood set the year prior, just three run groups were assembled, with only a few dozen cars in total, making for incredibly relaxed sessions on the tarmac, devoid of track traffic that often plagues bigger events.

A catered lunch kept stomachs full, as did drinks, snacks, and more. KW goodies like shirts, hats and mugs were there for the taking, icing the cake of an already incredible day. Watching from the sidelines was exciting too, as machines of all types were clipping apexes. NSXs, 911s, M3s, and Alfas: there was a bit of everything for everybody, with screaming engines of all breeds. Once again, KW set the bar for a tough Friday to beat.

It seems obvious to suggest that yet another year will fly by before us, but at least we know there’s something exciting on the docket for May come 2019. At least, that’s what we expect, KW… see you then.
