Between Gods and Superheroes
by Mike Burroughs
The best part about our niche in the automotive scene is that it includes cars of all makes and models. We’ve seen a lot of different cars, ranging from the rusty and beat up base-model stuff, top really well built, classy, upscale cars, like the S4 down the page…. but every once in a while, someone comes along with a car that arguably falls into Supercar territory and absolutely nails it.

It’s almost like meeting your hero. You think to yourself “Wow, there are people with money and style”, or “If I had stacks on deck, that’d be my dream car”. I guess my point is that its not every day that someone with such an upscale vehicle is participating in our part of the scene. Kamil Witowski is one of those guys that breaks the mold and brings something absolutely spectacular to the table.

Take a look at Kamil’s SL55 AMG. It’s not only gorgeous because its an SL55 AMG, its similar to what I would build if I owned this car. Classy, elegant, and simple. I can hear my wallet yelling at me at this very moment.

To start things off, this AMG sits on DPE ST7 wheels measuring out to 19×9.5 up front and 19×10.5 out back. 225/35/19 and 245/35/19 Dunlop Direzza DZ101s wrap the wheels and give a very nice stretch. The wheels sit elegantly outside the fenders, a first on an SL55, I’m sure. Bringing the car down to earth is AirMatic airride with lowering links. Putting it all together has made one seriously neck-breaking car. I couldn’t imagine rolling up somewhere and seeing this parked outside. We’d need a forklift to get my jaw off the floor.

This car has countless SL65 goodies on the exterior, taking it from top-tier to absolutely ridiculous. Carbon fiber accents inside and out are surprisingly welcomed. Carbon fiber in its rightful home, I’d say, instead of covering every square inch of an E46. It doesn’t stop at aesthetic details either. Kamil’s AMG has over 400 horsepower to the rear wheels, and better than that, almost 500 lb/ft of torque. If it doesn’t break your neck when it rolls past, it will when you drive it. All-in-all, its refreshing to see such a nice car brought to our scene. No elitism here… It’s proven that any car can participate given the owner has the desire.

Maybe we’ll be seeing more and more cars like this. I’d love to hear the reaction from fellow benz enthusiasts. Let this be another tick towards the proven fact that stance is here to stay, and its only going to get bigger.
