From the Ground Up

by Mike Burroughs

When Frank Evensen bought this E30 just over two years ago, it was far from what you might consider a good candidate for a build of this caliber. When describing the condition of the car, Frank’s explanation of “Well, it was in running condition” was somewhat unsurprising.  That’s no discredit to Frank however… Is it just me, or are the people from Norway and Sweden simply known for putting out the most ridiculous cars out there?

Frank’s build began with getting the car into the air and stripping it down to just the chassis. Every nut, bolt, and component came out of the car, short of the dashboard. Frank built a more-or-less new e30, replacing every part imaginable. Sitting on eleventy-million-way adjustable K-Sport coilovers, Frank’s car is hunkered down nicely on the 17×8.5 and 17×10 OZ Futuras.

Frank’s attention to detail is what makes this car stand out from the others. It reminds me a bit of our own Nic Foster’s E21 build. Its obvious that it was done right. This car also goes to show anyone I’ve ever argued with about brown cars that yep, brown is where it’s at. Its not the lowest E30 I’ve ever seen, but as a whole there’s really nothing to argue with. It’s an e30 to look up to, and for other e30s owners aim towards.

The M-Tech 2 kit and the shadow-lined trim complete the exterior, and while I don’t have photos of the interior to share, its on-par with the outside.

There’s plenty of stuff on the horizon coming from Frank, including a twin-turbo build and an e30 M3 Evo 3 seats and such. As if you could make this car any nicer… Frank, keep it up.
